The day was August 31st, and it was late at night when the breaking news came in, right in the middle of a baseball game. Someone had been found dead in their home, cause of death unknown.
This was the second time in a week. For a town of about 9200 people, this was an alarming fact. It didn’t help that rumours spread quickly. Apparently both of the murders had taken place around midnight, and in the rooms where each of the victims had been found, there was a mirror. A man had been found carrying a hand mirror, while a woman had been in front of her washroom mirror.
The children and teenagers of the town spread rumours of course. It was going around that if you stood in front of a mirror at midnight; the mirror would turn red or black because the spirit going around killing people wanted to hide itself from prying eyes. That fact changed based on who you asked. But it was just a stupid rumour, spread by bored children who were going back to school the following day. It would probably turn out to be a killer from the big city, thinking a small town was easy to pick on, or an angry lover.
Human cruelty was much easier to believe in than angry spirits in mirrors.
Introduction:
For those of you who have not played any of the games or watched the anime, the Persona series combines a role-playing game with a simulation game, and often focuses on teenagers going to school while fighting using Personas, which are explained in the Definitions section. This is going to be a very in-depth RP, and as such, you should be entering this RP with some knowledge of the Persona world.
That is why I ask, if you have not played Persona 3 or 4, that you watch the first two episodes of the Persona 4 anime. Here’s a link:
anime-media.com/category/persona-4/
Like in the games, your character will be dealing with the stresses of a school setting, but also fighting Shadows in order to fulfill a certain purpose. This RP will be a blend of both settings, with a bit more emphasis on the action.
This RP will not follow the same structure as ones before it. It will work almost in a quest style, with objectives being posted occasionally when they are called for. Some may be small, but others may span pages. These objectives will usually not be very specific, as to allow as much freedom as possible. However, I do ask that attention is paid to the objectives.
Also, in this RP, your sign-up profile will determine what abilities your Persona receives. These abilities will be handed out at the end of each completed objective.
Rules:
1. I cannot stress this enough, but WATCH YOUR INBOXES. While objectives will be posted in the RP thread, sometimes you will get a role or set of instructions specific to your character via PM. I’ll let everyone know that PMs have been sent out of character, but it is your responsibility to read messages sent privately.
2. To join, I’ll need to approve your profile. I usually approve/decline within a day.
3. No godmodding. This should be an obvious rule, but don’t do it. I’ll be pretty generous with warnings, but be careful of your actions.
4. No trolling. It won’t be tolerated at all.
5. I’m asking for some love and tolerance towards your fellow RPer. Don’t be a jerk.

Persona: A Persona is a manifestation of one’s personality; a tamed and trained Shadow that can be commanded in battle by a Persona user. To summon a Persona, one must first face their Shadow, which is a malevolent manifestation of their inner thoughts. Personas are often based off of myth or folklore, and can have a wide variety of appearances.
A Persona, for the sake of our RP, will often take damage for its user unless an enemy directly attacks a Persona user; however, Persona users feel the pain their Persona do.
Shadow: There are two types of Shadows. First is the normal type of Shadow, which is a being made of negative human emotion. There are simple ones, and stronger ones made up of multiple Shadows. The second type is the Shadow Self. A Shadow Self starts off looking like the person it is based off of, albeit with yellow eyes. However, it is an incarnation of negative personality traits and repressed emotions, which it uses to its advantage to make the person it is based from deny being the same person. When they are denied, the Shadow Self changes into a monster and attacks everything in vicinity. If the person the Shadow Self is based on can admit their faults, a Shadow Self will change into a Persona.
For our RP, while I am asking you to create Shadow Selves right away, they will not come in until much after our characters have their Personas. They will be explained later.
