(A joint RP created by ST and myself.)
“Juni, was this really necessary? I mean, you always do this so late...”
“...Yes Drake, it was.”
Two vastly different people were walking through the castle fairly late at night, as hail pelted the ground outside. One was the prince of the land, a young man with a soft smile, carrying a halberd as he strolled down the hallway leading to the royal chambers. The other looked to be even younger than he was; when in reality she was decades older. Her thick robe hid the only weapon she needed. They had gone out merely to survey the land when Juni decided that she, being Drake’s personal advisor, would also test his skills in combat.
By the amount of bruises and cuts on his body, he had lost in a rather humiliating fashion.
They were both on their way to go to the chambers for some well-deserved rest, but as they exchanged meaningless conversation, the sound of a wailing shriek pierced the air for merely a second, before being silenced almost immediately after it began. Drake glanced at Juni, who had already begun to walk in the direction of the scream.
“Juni, what was that?!”
“It came from the royal bedchambers. I would assume it was your mother.”
Drake paused for a moment, thinking of the many possibilities that could have taken place, before bolting past Juni towards the chambers. Juni was quick on his heels, so when they reached the door and opened it, they were together to see what had happened within.
There was blood everywhere.
On the walls, the bed sheets, the furniture... it would have seemed as if someone had thrown buckets of red paint around if it were not for the gut-wrenching smell of it. Drake’s mother and father were on the ground in different positions. Drake’s father was face-down before a third person in the room, with part of his body having joined the floor, as if it were quicksand. His mother, on the other hand, had fallen beside the bed, a piece of the bed frame intertwined with her skull.
The assailant, who was still in the room, turned to Drake and Juni upon hearing the door open, wearing a small smile. It was a familiar face, a man by the name of Geoffrey Caldwell who would occasionally visit the castle to offer advice to the king and queen, now dead at his feet. He was nobler in appearance than even Drake, with soft blonde hair and haunting black eyes that seemed to be filled with glee upon the sight of Drake.
“ W-w-what did you do...?” was the most that Drake could muster up, visibly shaken by the fact that he had just walked in upon his parents dead. “How...?”
“I killed your parents, and I will shortly be killing you, Drake,” Geoffrey explained rather matter-of-factly, keeping his eyes on Juni instead of Drake. “The country of Ilebana will be mine to rule. Is that so difficult to understand?”
He turned his eyes towards Drake, and he began to mouth the words to a spell that would have ended Drake’s life... if he could have seen them. Juni had been casting a spell of her own, and Geoffrey was rendered momentarily useless as his eyes struggled against their sockets, the result of her “Vision Manipulation” spell. By the time he could see once again, Juni and Drake were already out of the castle, having found their way to the town.
A matter of days later, and everyone had heard of prince Drake’s brutal killing of his parents, stopped too late by the now king Geoffrey. Anyone who spotted Drake was urged to report this to the king so that he could be captured. Yet, the usurped hid in plain sight, donning robes given to him by Juni (who was safe, very few people actually knew what she looked like). They sat in a bar together as par Juni’s instructions, almost as if waiting for something.
“This is a bad idea, Juni,” Drake whispered. “We cannot trust anyone in this sort of situation, and you want to hire people to help us?”
“Yes,” was her simple reply.
“Are you sure?”
“Would I fail you?”
Drake grew silent for a moment. “I... guess not.”
“We will just have to see who arrives.”

Name: Juni Herana
Age: 1025 (Appears 12)
Gender: Female
Appearance: Juni has blood red hair drawn back in a ponytail. Her face is unusually pale, and fairly thin. She has purplish eyes. She isn't incredibly tall, around 5'1" Juni wears a noticibly old-styled deep-purple robe, with spade-like repeating fringe covering her wrists, neckline, and ankles. The robe is very large and looks quite bulky. Underneath is a body-fitting mesh body-suit. Her shoes are thin grey boots lines with iron.
Personality: Juni is brutally honest, and doesn't line her conversations with frill and fringe. She is very cold, toneless, emotionless and motivated. She is also tactical, experienced, but does not operate in secret.
Character Motivation to Join Army: To assist Drake back to the throne, and to gain access to castle records and history.
Weapons: Juni is a Magic user that requires no weapon.
Spells (limit to 10): -Vision Manipulation: Rotates opponent's vision violently for 2 minutes. -Self-Manipulation: Can reassemble her body to create weapons out of her own limbs and muscles. -Maximum Self-Manipulation: Can manipulate herself into a new creature for purposes of combat. (Cannot imitate animals) -Enemy Manipulation: Can mildlywarp the body of the opponent to her own will. -Demon Tooth Pull: Pulls a dagger-like demon tooth from another dimension into the battle field at a chosen spot. The summoning does the most damage to the enemy if it's summoned where the enemy is. -Fear of Death: For a split second, the enemy feels as if they had died in their most feared way. How the enemy reacts to the spell depends on the character. -Violent Body Tsunami: Juni disassembles her own body and heats her blood to a boiling temperature, while her sharpest bones rotate all through the attack. The blood hovers, moving in a swift stream, burning and stabbing her opponents. It's a damaging attack to both enemies and Juni, since it uses a colossal amount of stamina to reconstruct her form. -Conditional Immortality: Juni has immortality, as long as she obey 2 conditions. One of which is unknown, and the other is to prevent the Crystal Heart within her from shattering.
History: Juni is actually 1025 years old, and comes from a tribe that was wiped out when she was 12. During the elimination of her tribe, Juni saw her parents skinned alive by the invaders. Before they could kill Juni along with the rest of the tribe, Juni made a pact with 2 demons, who gave her the strength to defeat all the intruders, but cost her the use of emotions, as well as being a bridge to the dimension of demons. Over the past millenia, she has studied magic and culture, trying to preserve the knowledge of ancient tribes. Her current mission requires her to gather information that might live in the library of usurped King Drake's castle.

Name: Melody Keam
Age: 18
Gender: Female
Appearance: Chest length blonde hair, blue/green eyes. Wears a bracelet on her left wrist with a tiny orb on it. Inside this orb is a magic fire. This is where most of her abilities come from. She wears a red sleeveless dress (has hidden folds to hide two daggers) and blue jeans over a skintight long sleeve shirt/tights combo, enchanted to aid in her magical control and lightly resist magic.
Personality: Unstable emotionally. Sometimes her emotions can't be controlled, other times they're nonexistent. Timid personally, but outgoing professionally. This can affect her magic. Is very good at detecting how others feel, even if she doesn't act upon it. She's always looking to aspire, succeed, and better herself.
Character Motivation to Join Army: To make herself more stable and to further her magic. Also believes that Prince Drake would never kill his parents and that something is amiss.
Weapons: Her magic and bracelet. Also has two daggers she can coat in flame.
Spells (limit to 10):
Fire Manipulation -Allows Melody to freely control any fire, preexisting or conjured. Fireball - A basic fire projectile. Size and number may vary. Fireline - A line of fire is raised from the ground. Used for defense. Longer line means more energy. Sheath of Flame - Covers a weapon with a thin layer of fire. Melt - A usually non-combat spell that can melt anything, given enough time and no interruptions. Incendiary Bonds - Grips foes with chains of fire. Intensity can just scald a foe or burn him alive. Liquid Fire - When versatility calls, Melody creates a fireball or uses a melted object and converts it into a liquid ball. It can seep through cracks of buildings, armor, that sort of thing. Heat Stroke - After a period of channeling, Melody creates a sort of illusion over the enemy, making the sun feel hotter and their strength diminishing, like the effects of heat stroke. Can be cast over one foe or an entire battlefield. Allies are unaffected. Nova - A last ditch attack. Uses all but a fraction of the magic fire in her bracelet in a horrific blast of fire. Takes days for the fire to regenerate and her magic is limited until then.
Mystery Spell - A spell I'm taunting you with until it is revealed in the RP.
History: Melody grew up dreaming to be a noblewoman. Her aspirations were crushed by her parents and she eventually stopped trying in anything. When she was a teen, walking home from school, she witnessed a store burning down. No one was around. She instantly jumped to start pouring water from the well on the burning building. Other people joined in and she was heralded as a town hero.
From there, Melody began practicing fire magic (after failing horribly at water), seeing as how mages are treated like nobility. It was a painful struggle, emotionally and physically. After the day of the fire, she yearned to fulfill achievement, but her timidity kept holding her back. When she heard of Prince Drake's killing of his parents, she refused to believe it. She'd seen him when she moved to the castle town. He seemed kind. Maybe not a saint, but not the type to murder his parents. When she caught word of a movement to restore him to the throne, she forced herself to track down the Prince. A noble cause and a chance to make a difference.

Name: Gentt LeRoux
Age: 23
Gender: Male
Appearance: Tall around 6’2. Light brown hair that’s a little shaggy falls right below the ears. Light greens eyes the color of faded money, and a lean body i.e. he has some muscle but is not a gross muscle man. Attractive, but he has one scar on the left side on his face making a crescent moon shape from his eyebrow to the middle of his check. He also has about three scars on the left side of his neck and one would guess that the scars increase in number has his left hand is practically covered and that’s all the casual observer could see. He has a scythe shaped earring, black shirt, faded brown pants, black boots and a long black coat.
Personality: He is a gentleman thief, head of a thieving guild. Pervert, doesn’t matter the sex. Has a very small conscience, but a huge sense of chivalry. Good sense of humor has both a sarcastic dry wit and will still go for the cheap laughs. He is more cunning then he lets on, also can be completely ruthless at a drop of hat.
Character Motivation to Join Army: figures if he helps Drake he can get his guild a whole bunch of free passes. Doesn't really care if Drake did kill his parents. And he thought everyone was kind of cute, remember huge pervert.
Weapons: his scythe earring turns into a nice big old scythe or s slightly smaller scythe depending on what Gentt needs, he is an incredibly skilled with his scythe again head of his guild. He can never lose the earring it is magicked to him. Also his basic lock picking set, small knives and the such.
Spells (limit to 10): He can do some water manipulation, but he needs to be around a water source. He refuses to bring water with him saying it would be an unfair advantage but when he is around water… -Drowning: manipulates the water to cover the mouth and nose of victim, till victim is dead or passed out. -Water whip: uses water as a whip to lash at enemies, used without the intention of killing. -Easing locks: when water is around, Gentt can use it to help his lock picking. -Soaked: uses water, cold water, to drench all surrounding characters (excluding Gentt if he doesn't feel like getting wet) allowing Gentt to view all their lovelies.
History: me to know and you to find out.

Name: Luka Vanhanen
Age: 20
Gender: Male
Appearance: About 5'11", razor-cut deep auburn hair parted on the left side of his head, gray eyes. His hair flops over to the right of his head and hangs down to perhaps just below his jawline. The hair on the left side of his head is short and spiked outward. He wears a dark blue tunic, black leggings, dark brown boots lined lightly with iron, a dark brown belt, dark brown leather gauntlets with black fingerless gloves underneath, and a dark green shoulder guard/breastplate combo. [Will try to get a good pic up soon.]
Personality: Luka tends to shy away from people in general due to a traumatic event that took place in his past, but will join any cause if he wants to get to the bottom of the issue. He's a just person, and in actuality is so righteous that his father often told him that he'd be better off as something other than a swordsman. Since then, though, he's honed his skills so he can kill a foe without feeling guilty, but will sometimes sit alone after battle and ponder on the lives of his defeated enemy's family and how they will fare without this person in their lives. He doesn't start conversations, but would rather answer to them. He's a quiet person who can often be seen staring off into space. He rather enjoys his quiet time and may once in a while doze off.
Character Motivation to Join Army: It's not just that he feels something unjust has happened, but he feels obligated to solve this puzzle. Though he's just passing through, he wouldn't think twice about passing such an opportunity up.
Weapons: A steel sword along with a bracelet on his right wrist that grants him the ability to more skillfully wield two different types of magic, light and wind. This bracelet was a gift from a priestess he met during his travels.
Spells (limit to 10): <> First Blessing: Lämmin - ("Lämmin" is Finnish for "warm") - Heals small wounds, such as burns and cuts, but cannot take care of larger more severe injuries such as deep gashes or severed limbs. <> Second Blessing: Sulous - ("Sulous" is Finnish for "grace") - Heals deep wounds and severe lacerations. Can heal various status ailments as well. Takes a bit more stamina than the previous spell. <> Third Blessing: Taivas - ("Taivas" is Finnish for "heaven") - Heals the most severe and deadly of wounds, curing poison or any other ailment as well. Can bring someone back from the brink of death, but will still leave them very tired and incapable of activity for a good day or so. Takes much stamina and will completely wipe out his energy reserves, depending on how much energy he had to put into the spell due to the injury. <> Air Cascade - Summons forth minute blades of air to slice the foe. Comes down rapidly from the sky at a sharp angle. <> Caustic Wind - Brings forth a harsh gust to rip and tear at the opponent, forceful enough to send them flying into walls and such. <> Twisting Phantom - Creates a void around the enemy that rids all of the air from their immediate surroundings. They feel a cool wind slink up their body. This wind pounds down into their windpipe and pops their lungs. Can be used simply as a suffocation device (which can be used just to have them pass out) or as the second option, a brutal killing spell. <> Tempest of the Fallen - An extremely difficult spell to use. Summons a raging storm to take out many enemies at once. The violent winds and torrential rain combine to make a fierce combo. The spell starts coming to an end once the lightning makes its debut. After the winds gather up enough enemies into one place, a magnificent bolt of lighting comes down on them. This spell has never been used by him and for good reason; this spell takes a ton of stamina, so much that he might not be able to move for a good three days. It has been said in some instances that the user has died because their body could not take the toll of the storm. Intensifies with the ferocity of their emotions.
History: He was born and raised in a woodland country far from Ilebana. His mother died from illness shortly after he was born, so his father raised him and taught both him and his best friend, Geld, the art of the sword. However, when Luka was 14 years of age, his father was accused of raping and murdering Geld's sister, Ukada. Luka's father escaped and Geld swore vengeance, taking off after him.
Luka spent the next three years training with the village's top swordsman, a retired soldier from a castle in Ilebana, and upon being taught all that he could teach him, Luka was sent off into the world. Three years later, the traveler finds himself in Ilebana. He has become a mercenary of sorts and will only work if he deems the cause to be a just one. He hopes one day to find his dear companion, Geld, and to clear things up with him. He prays he harbors no ill will towards him.

OOC: I know, it's been bad. I'm posting the profile now, but I'll need to update it a little later with spells included. I'll try and get them up ASAP, but I'm not promising anything (I've got a lot of writing to do before Friday, damn).
Name: Drake Armandi Age: 19 Gender: Male Appearance: Drake looks more like a commoner than a noble, with fairly messy brown hair and unimpressive green eyes. He can normally be found wearing plain black pants and a white shirt, along with gauntlets and armour for his knees and shoulders (that is, when he doesn’t have to wear the clothes of a noble). Personality: Drake is a gentle man at heart, not wanting to raise his halberd to fight anyone seriously. While he is intelligent, his intellect is often blinded by emotions. Unlike many nobles, he enjoys working for getting something and not just lazing around. Character Motivation to Join Army: Drake’s motivation is simple. He wants to get back on the throne due to the fact that it is his to begin with, and he feels he would be the best leader for the country. His parents were killed when the usurper took over, so he’d also like to get revenge for their sake. Weapons: Drake uses a halberd (commonly known as Ichthys), a six foot weapon that is equipped with a lance tip, an axe head, and a thorn which can be used to pierce armour. His halberd consists of a black steel pole with the rest of the pieces being made of some sort of unknown silver material. Spells (limit to ten): Apparition Shield: If you’re need of a shield or a piece of armour, Drake can summon up an apparition of the armour needed, that can be used in the same way except in that it disappears when the battle is over. Peace-Keeper: A healing spell, this spell relies on Drake’s level of calm to work. If he is in a true state of peace, it would be possible to heal one serious wound, but normally, he can heal medium amount of mild wounds. If he is not at peace with himself, then the spell fails to work. Lost Star Galahad: This spell is a strange one, and it does not work well on more intelligent opponents. What it does is create a bright light in the air, which is good as a distraction. Sometimes, Drake can add sounds to it, or make it flash to temporarily blind opponents. But most of the time, it is simply a big, shiny light. Hummingbird: This spell causes the target of choice to vibrate, either softly or immensely. It can be used on inanimate objects only, and is often used on weapons to help them cut through things easier, or on opponent’s weapons to get them to drop said weapon. The Gate of the Oleander: This spell starts off as a flower-shaped shield, absorbing spells as it begins to close. When it is fully closed, it begins to glow a hot white. This gives Drake a matter of seconds to kick or throw it (or use his halberd as a golf club...) at the nearest enemy, where it will explode. This spell is very taxing of Drake, so it is only used in dire situations. Terror Sanctuary: It is unknown what this spell does as of yet. All that is known is that it is unusual among Drake’s arsenal of spells, and that he is being taught how to use this spell by Juni. History: Drake has lived as a prince his entire life, enjoying the lifestyle of the noble. He was raised secluded from people his own age and from those who would be considered “below” his status, leaving him lacking as far as social interaction went (with the only person he knew well being Juni). However, as he grew older, he decided to sneak out of the castle on occasion, just to see how others live, and often giving those he saw coins in exchange for their silence.

(OOC: We're going to start, before we forget about this RP)
Juni scanned the room blankly, before turning back to Drake. She pulled the hood of her cloak down, revealing her shiny red hair that glowed in the barlight.
"It is currently unknown how many people will arrive, but there is a chance that we will be assisted by people very soon." Juni lowered her voice to an almost inaudible tone, "During the night, while you slept, I spoke to several unpleasant people. Most of them were mercenaries and bounty hunters. Some should arrive here shortly. After our allies arrive, I recommend we begin travel immediately."

Drake kept his hood up, mainly for the purpose of making sure that anyone who was looking for him didn't get the perfect chance to see that he was sitting in a bar, drinking from a beer mug (which actually held water, but that was here nor there). Yet, his soft green eyes could be seen, filled with sorrow for the still-recent deaths of his parents, and with concern for Juni and her plans.
"Are you sure about this?" he whispered back, slightly confused. "I mean, how can you trust that anyone will come, and without the royal army? And, why did you go out when I was sleeping?"
|
|
|
Post by Admin on Sept 27, 2009 22:28:52 GMT -5
"Yes I'm sure. I made sure to offer more than what the army's bounty had for you. And the royal army isn't stationed within close walking distance of this area. It would take a day and a half for them to get here."
Juni paused for breath, "And I went out while you were sleeping to make sure you did not get in my way."

"Alright, well as long as you were cautious about it, which I appreciate," Drake sighed, raising an eyebrow at Juni. "What do you mean by me getting in your way, though? Am I that much of a burden to you? Honestly, I thought you would have trusted me more by now than to say something like that. I can handle myself in a battle, and even you have been teaching me magic..."
Drake couldn't understand Juni sometimes. He supposed it had something to do with the fact she was at least fifty times his age, and had seen some of the horrors of humanity. Yet, he sometimes wished she acted more human herself...

"It was not a matter of combat. You are young and emotionally damaged. There were deals made with people that you might not see suitable for a prince to make. If I made them, then you would not be responsible."
And if you want your throne back, you will learn to make dark deals.

Melody wasn't one for the bar scene. Young, blonde, attractive, and a poor head for liquor. Thankfully, she got some pointers from the woman who told her to come. Her long blonde hair was tied back in a tight bun and her bright red dress was covered by a drab brown cloak. The fire on her bracelet could barely be seen through the thick cloth.
She gazed around the bar, her eyes adjusting to the light. She couldn't see many faces clearly, so she hoped the woman or the prince who find her.
