"Why thank you Papillon," Nina chuckled, giving her a sarcastic salute in the meanwhile, as with a few mumbled words she summoned up an orb that shot out a few lasers which began to cut at the metal caging Papillon in. "I was wondering about the doom and gloom atmosphere here, but that explains quite a bit. Oh, and by the way, did you talk to that Davian guy while you were here... in a jail cell? He's not my favourite person ever."
Soon enough, the lasers cut enough of the metal so that Papillon would be free, and the orb disappeared from the air.
"We should go, I think there's going to be a fight soon."

Knew it.
Tekrias also picked up the sounds of the horseman. He turned from his position and ran back to the hook in the hallway where he had his little bag. Tekrias grabbed it and slung the sack over his shoulder, adjusting the strap accordingly. He made sure he had everything on him - most importantly his simple dagger and his summoning jewel.
He raced through the halls just in time to catch the new girl freeing Papillon from the cell. Tekrias didn't make much note of Papillon being freed, if Davian really did want her in their custody, he would've mentioned it. Finally, Tekrias arrived outside to witness Davian blowing away wave after wave of horses. Still, they had numbers and strength and would eventually get past his lightning.
"Sir.. this isn't the time to expel your anger like this when we should be prepping for a swift retreat. Your orders..?"

Davian jerked his head fiercely at the sound of his comrade's voice. He let his anger get the better of him again. Hands shaking, he dispelled the energy from his sword back into the ground. "You're right. Thank you, my friend. We should leave."
He placed a hand on Tekrias's shoulder and sighed heavily. Midland was northeast of their location. The guardsmen were still on approach, but the swift horses they had tethered in the woods nearby could easily outrun them. The problem being that the enemy would run right through them before they could get to the horses.
They needed a distraction.
"Tekrias, we need a summon. As fast as possible. We need to distract those damn guards long enough so we can reach our horses. Impress me."
With that, he stood defensively in front of Tekrias. This was the only option aside from a full resistance, and Davian couldn't bear risking the lives of the rest of his friends.

"Yes, I did", Papillon replied, as she finally stepped out of her small cell, "He wasn't so bad to me. At least, before his friend died."
She heard a commotion outside. Horsemen approaching.
"You're right, Nina. But The Midland Elite is reputed for its strength; the best way to go out now is, in my opinion, to follow them. That, and another reason... but now's not the time to talk about it."
And with this, Papillon hurried to the weapons room, where she expected her rapier to rest. Indeed, as she got in, her rapier was sitting there, waiting for her. She took it, and strapped it back onto her belt, before joining Nina again.

"Aye."
Tekrias saulted Davian and walked a few steps backwards. He took his necklace off; the one that had his summoning jewel on it.
I'll need to slow the enemy movements for our escape.
Tekrias then drew the familiar circular grid. Like the Ifrit summon, he filled the perfectly drawn circle with many distinct runes, symbols, and writing. This time the symbols were different. A new summon was to arrive for the sakes of the Midland Elite. Tekrias, upon finishing up, carefully walked to the middle of the grid, knelt down, and began to pray.
The circle began to glow a light blue.

Davian caught the glowing circle out of the corner of his eyes. The guards were still coming too fast. Then he remembered that these weren't the highly trained Tenmau horses. These were bulky Solaris horses, trained to run in one direction and not stop. But, untrained as they were, they were surprisingly skittish.
Davian held his palms together, separated, then clapped. A rippling crack of thunder emitted around the location of the enemy horse. The front line whinnied and reared back, causing disturbances in the other lines. It bought them a minute at best. Davian forced himself to let Tekrias handle the rest. He'd need the energy for the retreat.

"Do we really have to follow them?" Nina groaned as she watched Papillon get her rapier from the weapons room, pacing around for a bit. "I thought we were just going to leave this mess once you were free. But, you know best Papillon, and I'll stay with you where ever you may go. But let's just be careful that they don't catch us following them, or else we may wind up in another jail cell."
Nina stood, waiting for Papillon to lead the way.

"Listen, I know it might be really annoying to follow them", Papillon spoke in a low voice, as she didn't want anyone to hear her in case someone passes by, "but I've got a hunch. Somehow, I think they might be the lead I need to find what I've been searching for. Don't ask me now why I think so, as I'm not entirely sure myself. But for now, let's find someplace to wait in before we follow them."
As she was about to move to search for said someplace, she turned to Nina once again, "And I agree with you, we should be discreet. Though we can break out of cells, it's kind of embarrassing to be in one in the first place, and I don't want to live this shame twice."
She gave Nina grin, then began walking, looking around the small fort for a safe place to hide. Everyone was busy for the moment, no one was going to notice them. Papillon saw an empty room; it might have been unoccupied. She motioned to Nina, then walked silently towards the room. Seeing where it was located, it should be enough for her to know when to follow.

Aero bowed his head down at the news of his friend's lost. He could remember when they first met... Aero spun his head around when he heard a thundering noise. There was no time for reminiscing. The cavalry was already coming.
Aero rushed to grab the little of his belongings. He fastened his armor plates, and then got ready to leave.
Tekrias and Davian were handling the front. That left the escaping part. Aero rushed to the the swift horses they had tethered in the woods nearby. Then he realized that the horses were going to get run over by the cavalry. He was an idiot.
He stood right next to Davian, ready to fight if he had to. "Orders sir?"

"Well, if you think that, then I don't mind following them at all," Nina chuckled, heading towards the empty room Papillon pointed out, all the while trying to keep her voice down so that people nearby wouldn't hear them and decide to lock them in a jail cell again. "Besides, I've been meaning to ask how exactly you got involved with this group in the first, place, and how you wound up captured. Not your style."

OOC: Roger roger.
Tekrias' muttering slowed and then stopped. He opened his eyes, and stood up, and slowly walked away from the circle. The temperature of the area dropped considerably, and soon the sky filled with gray skies. A single snowflake soon emerged from the heavens and fell slowly, mesmerizingly downward. At last, it fell perfectly in the middle of the grid and stayed there for a moment. Then, without a moment's notice, a large stalagmite of ice erupted from the ground. Within the perfectly clear cone of ice, there seemed to be a frozen lady, her eyes shut from slumber. All of a sudden, the maiden's eyes opened and the icicle shattered, letting her roam free. This was Shiva, the queen of cold. "Welcome," said Tekrias, bowing his head. "We need to escape." Shiva nodded her head to the summoner and turned towards the many incoming horses. With a simple wave of her hand, the front line was frozen solid. Shiva, seemingly floating on air, proceeded forward. She turned around, blew a kiss to the Midland Elite, and made a wall of ice several feet high, and both ends stretching off into the horizon as far as the eye could see. Audible and slightly visible beyond the opaque barrier were signals of battle. Tekrias knew that Shiva would lose the fight. There were just too many horsemen, and despite Shiva's seemingly immortal powers, she would eventually reach her limits and she would fall. A summon's strength wanes considerably as the summoner moves away. Thankfully, a summon never really dies as its spirit is saved and it is reborn upon call. Still, Tekrias' summons were like his best friends and comrades, it was uneasy to leave them for theirselves. Still, the overall goal was most important, so Tekrias turned towards Davian. "Let's move." OOC: Shiva: www.kaolinitedreams.com/cosplay/shiva_finalfantasyx.jpg

Davian stood in amazement at the sheer power of the summons at Tekrias's fingertips. It was the perfect escape plan. He turned to Aero, who stopped himself from running headlong to the woods where the guards were storming toward.
"Now we can go," he smiled.
"Elite! Let's not waste this opportunity! Get to your horse, split up, and outmaneuver the enemy. We meet back at the old base! Move out!"
Davian signaled for his comrades to run off to the woods. Shiva's icy powers stalled the guardsmen perfectly. After a minute or two of running, Davian arrived at the horses. He slung all his extra gear on Simeon's horse, mounted his own, and rode off. Moving far faster than the cumbersome battlehorses, Davian led the horses along the wall of ice to the east. It was mid-afternoon. With luck and no rest, he would arrive a fair deal before sundown, with his team behind him. He would ride east until the guards gave up chase, then would veer north to arrive at the gate on the Solarian side of Midland.

Realizing that she needed to get out, Lilliana slung Tina on her back and ran out of the building. Now she was a tad perplexed. Where was the old base?
Shit.
Tina didn't respond, but even if she could, you could tell her sense of direction was no better. Things looked bad.
I'd fight back if I could... but that other battle really did a fair share of damage... Recovery is necessary, so I'll preserve myself. Wouldn't want to lose two people today.
...
Oh damn. I can't use my magic to escape...
Lilliana, in the most need for a headstart (carrying Tina and all), sprinted into the forest, looking for any possible shelter.

Tekrias bent over from fatigue a little. Two summons in one day created a strain on him that he wasn't too used to. There were many rules and laws of the summoner that he questioned when he was starting out, such as multiple summons per day, or even at the same time. He knew that they were possible, but he decided for the well-being of him and his team that he wouldn't toy with bending the rules unless absolutely necessary. This was one of those times.
Rested as he could be in two minutes, Tekrias silently apologized to Shiva and began to sprint towards the forest. Already the effects of the sun and the bulky horses were visible on the wall. He found his horse and swung himself on. He saw Lilliana who looked sort of lost. Not surprised by this, he whistled to her.
"Northeast."
His horse jumped up on its hind legs, landed, turned, and the steed with its rider began to gallop in the direction of the old fort.

"Northeast."
...Uhm...
She looked around.
...U-Uhm...
She kept running, avoiding being spotted.
Which way is Northeast...?
Lilliana stopped, took notice that Tekrias was riding the opposite direction, and continued running, doing her best to follow him without being obvious.

Aero broke into a run at Davian's command. He rushed for his horse and jumped directly on it. His horses was jittery due to the battle that was occurring.
"Take it easy," he whispered to his horse and petted it. He then noticed Lilliana running by pretending to know what she was doing.
"That girl," he said shaking his head. Moving forward he scooped Lilliana and flipped her onto the back of his horse.

OOC: Sorry people.
"Well, long story short, I was crossing the border, there was a fight, I joined in, the captain decides to put me in captivity", Papillon answered, and grinned, "makes him sound so evil. It's not that simple, though; I had to cross the border because there was an advancing army, and since they spotted me, they didn't like it that I was still alive. The fact that Midland Elite's captain decided to put me in captivity was just luck, since it was practically a refuge for me."
Papillon looked out the window, trying to see (and hear) for any sign to move on. Finally, she started hearing horses; different than the ones owned by the enemy. Soon, she heard people mount them, and move away. One by one, the mercenaries left. From the window, she could see where they were heading.
"Now's our chance to save our rears, Nina, let's move!"
She got up from where she was, and ran towards the horses. There were a few extras left (in case one dies, or a new member joins). She took one of them, got on it, and took off to where she saw Davian heading. Worst case scenario, she'll find the old base by herself; she could faintly remember where it was, from her travels.
OOC: bleh, it's crap. I'm so tired.
