Welcome one and all to this momentous occasion! The 7th ToM Writing Competition has reached its final stages. We must now elect a winner out of the numerous strong contenders that turned out. Who will be the one to rise above the rest and ascend the throne of the victor?
But before that, we must address the issue of rule infractions – for indeed what is victory, but meaningless, in a game with no parameters to lend it definition?
Rule Infractions
Our first and most important rule is also the one that was most often broken: mandatory participation for active members. Of the members defined as active, including Wulfi, whom Daryl added to the list shortly after its initial iteration, the following of guilty of infraction: Cetasaurus, Daryl, Killer Instinct, simple tactician, and Wulfi. Statements of penalty shall be issued in paragraph #7 of this post.
Our second rule pertains to the selection of the winner, and as of yet has not been broken. If it is to be broken, I assert the following: As the fault is a structural one – based on an unanticipated contradiction of the rules system within which we all must participate – and collective punishment is against the Geneva Convention, infraction of this rule shall not incur punishment.
Our third rule has contracted no violation, I am pleased to announce. Cetasaurus imposed a theme upon Bitchy Grammar Queen, who incorporated it with ease.
Our fourth and final rule – which extended the entry period until after the conclusion of the Tokyo Olympics – has also been fulfilled, in-spite of the unexpected adjustments and unnerving uncertainties that arose within the projected timeline.
We now move to the unfortunate ordeal of sentencing members guilty of rule violations. Per the original decree, Cetasaurus, Daryl, Killer Instinct, simple tactician, and Wulfi incur these penalties:
***Banishment from having their "____ of the year!" votes count for 5 polls, including 1 poll retroactively.
***Ostracism by others here on the forum for their nonconformity
No stricter penalties are to be implemented.
With the issue of rule-breaking done duly, we now move onto the first round of voting!
Voting
In accordance with rule #2, voting will be split into no fewer than 3 rounds of a tournament-style bracket. Ties will be decided by Daryl through an opaque process that he super duper promises won't be biased.
Each thread created will be counted as its own entry, regardless of how the story is structured. The following threads qualify as legitimate competition candidates:
***Daryl Sucks by Bitchy Grammar Queen
***Putrid - Chapter 1 by matt
***Yuri Playhouse Episode 1 by Hauskaz
***Yuri Playhouse Episode 2 by Hauskaz
The first round of voting will see the contestants facing off as follows:
Bitchy Grammar Queen vs. Hauskaz (Episode 1)
matt vs. Hauskaz (Episode 2)
The second round will see the losers of the first round competing for the penultimate place.
Once all but the winner and the first runner-up have taken their rankings, the third and final round will commence to elect at last our glorious victor.
I am at this time implementing additional guidelines for voting:
1. For round 1, you must vote in both brackets. Voting is mandatory for any who read this post... This will not be enforced.
2. Vote by following the links on this thread to the correct poll. Links will be added as needed.
3. Each round will be given 2 weeks before voting is closed. The official start time is the time that the poll threads are posted.
4. Votes submitted via comment past a poll's close may be declared valid and counted toward the total, at Cetasaurus's discretion. Absent Cetasaurus, they will remain invalid.
5. Cetasaurus may implement additional instruction should it become necessary.
Best of luck to our illustrious competitors! It's sure to be a close one. May the voting commence!
