Round 1, Battle 3: Brutus v Emiko

Brutus tried breaking, but he was speeding too fast. He spotted electric sparks starting to surround Emiko, and cursed himself for not thinking that she wouldn't have close range moves. It was even worse that being in a metal suit of armor, he would feel a large amount of the electric shock.

"Holy shield!" He roared as his shield came into contact with Emiko. A white light enveloped his shield. As he kept on speeding forward Brutus felt the electricity running through him. His holy shield however, kept the large amount of the electricity from him.

OOC: So, um, does he knock into her or something?

[shadowdeath]

OOC: Yeah, he's still in shield rush, while getting electrocuted.

After the spell ended, Emiko was in a daze. The spell also affected her; it may not injure her, but it would stun her momentarily. It didn't help that Brutus was still charging at her, and she couldn't dodge or avoid him in any way, what with her state. She let out a shriek as the shield came into contact with her, and she got brutally knocked back. The impact was strong enough to completely throw her back. As she sat up, Emiko noticed bloodstains on the floor on either side of her, and felt pain in her arms; when she looked at her arms, she saw that both got injured from the fall. The teenage mage slowly got up, both of her arms still aching, and turned to face Brutus. That spell she just used was her only close-ranged attack; now she had to avoid whatever attack he was going to use, then try to put some distance between them.

OOC: Well, it's more like the shield is hurting her. The light surrounding the shield just weakens the effect of the lightning...

So... there's not really any burning... unless you're made of evil and can't stand light...

so... rewrite it? Sorry about not being specific.

Electricity was still running through Brutus's body. "Zzzz". He kept on shaking. The knight's mind as numb but he still somehow knew what to do. He had to get rid of the armor that was allowing the electricity to run freely through him.

He roared and his muscles expanded. They expanded enough to break his suit of armor. It fell to the ground, clattering. Brutus fell onto one knee, panting. He eyed his opponent closely, noticing that she too was in bad condition.

Emiko stared at Brutus, wide-eyed. She didn't expect this to happen, and for the first time in her life, Emiko was afraid of an opponent. She kept her eyes on Brutus, who was also eyeing her, and wondered what he was going to do next. As for her, running away was out of the question, as she would most likely not be fast enough to outrun him; and attacking first wasn't a good idea either, as her spells were mostly long-ranged, and seeing as he was able to deflect some of her spells, she might not be able to dodge them in time. Emiko decided to wait for his next move, her fists clenched, ready to retaliate.

OOC: Actually his is the next match (Mercy). I'll try to make this as long as possible though. =P

Brutus had several options. He could play defense, but it would be pointless. With his armor gone he had to play offense. But he couldn't get close to Emiko because he knew she would just use that electric magic. That was his only problem...

So his only real option was to throw his shield. Only downside to that is that he would be completely vulnerable, without any projection of some sort. But he was faster now, and the knight hoped that would be enough.

Without warning he stood up, twisted his hips and brought the shield back. Then he untwisted and launched the shield flying. He intentionally aimed it so that it wouldn't hit her at all. His plan was that it would hit her on the way back.

Emiko watched as Brutus prepared to throw his shield. She prepared herself to dodge, but to her surprise, the shield ended up flying past her, without even touching her. Emiko found it odd that Brutus would throw the shield so inaccurately, but didn't give it a second thought; now was her chance to attack, as he seemed completely vulnerable. She immediately produced two fireballs, one in each hand, and threw them consecutively at Brutus.

Little did she know that Brutus had missed on purpose. Right after she had thrown the fireballs, she felt something hit her square in the back, hard, making her fall forward. She had managed to fall on her hands and knees instead of landing on her face, but couldn't move afterwards because of the pain she was feeling in her back. Panting, Emiko waited for the pain to subside if only a little, before sitting on her knees and looking up. It seemed like she was underestimating her opponent too much; she needed to be more wary.

The moment Brutus saw the fireballs appear in Emiko's hands he sprung into action. He had already figured out the entire plan. He ran towards Emiko as the fireballs was shot at him. He dived and was able to dodge the first fireball as it whizzed over his body. But as he got up the second one caught him in the side.

He grunted and then quickly started rolling to extinguish the flame. It was hot but heat couldn't stop this knight. He got up from his rolling and dived for the shield that had knocked into Emiko. He picked it up and then faced her.

He felt his side burning so he patted it a little until it went out. He knew his entire side was burned and he wouldn't be able to move soon. He would have to end this soon.

[Griffin]

Griffin yells loudly from the audience, "BUMP!"

OOC: Yeah yeah yeah, I'll post asap...

OOC: Take your time.

OOC: Okay, enough procrastination.

What to do, what to do?

Now that the pain in her back was replaced with numbness, Emiko got up, not taking her eyes off of Brutus. She needed to put some distance between them, and fast. But she knew she would never be able to outrun him, not with a hurt back, and she wasn't much of a runner anyway.

Urgh, I feel like an old lady...

There wasn't a seemingly possible way to be away from her opponent. Unless...

No time to muse over her idea; Emiko had to take action. She began muttering under her breath the words of a spell, words that Brutus would recognize if he were a lip-reader. Indeed, it was a spell she had used just moments before; water magically surfaced, about to form a wave and push Brutus back. While the wave formed and advanced towards Brutus, Emiko stepped back, just to make sure she'll be as far away from her opponent as posssible. If things went as she thought, then she might have the upper-hand again.

OOC: It's tomorrow. POST!

OOC: Hi.

Brutus saw Emiko muttering. She was doing a spell. The spell had to be either a new one... or the one with a tidal wave...

As the knight had guessed, it turned out it was the tidal wave spell. Water started forming and rushed towards the knight. He quickly considered his options. He probably couldn't go around it. Going backwards was not an option. And standing still would probably kill him, considering that he didn't have armor this time.

The only option was to move forward.

The knight readied himself as the wave came. "Holy Light!" he shouted as the white light surrounded his shield. Hopefully this would repel some of the water.

Then he dashed forward, into the wave, going after Emiko. This was the final run.

Matt looks at his watch and realizes he has been sitting here watching this fight for nearly a month! It's really intense.

[Griffin]

OOC: PST! These things aren't in real time. <_<

OOC: Sure they are.

Emiko expected that things wouldn't go the way she wanted them. It looked like she would never get the chance to use the fifth spell, for that spell needed distance in order to cause damage. Emiko stopped going back, knowing it was in vain. Seeing as Brutus' shield was glowing, fireballs would probably have no effect. It seemed that there is only one spell that she could use now, even though it brought great risk.

Emiko was going to use the lightning spell again.

Bringing her hands together, she stood still and concentrated, as lightning bolts began appearing all around her, about to form a sphere covering her for a few seconds.

Brutus rushed through, getting soaked on his way. As he broke through the tidal wave at full speed he saw Emiko doing the electric defense spell again. He expected this, and hoped he had enough time to ram into her before she activated the spell.

Brutus knocked into Emiko, but the electricity was forming around her body. It was too late. The knight, being completely soaked in water was vulnerable to the electricity. Once more, electricity ran through his body again. Brutus yelled out and fell to the ground. He lost.

The match was over. High, watching from the stands, the announcer bellowed of the victory. 'And the winner today- Emiko!'

The next match would begin soon.
