The arena was cleaned of all blood and rubble, and the next fight would soon begin!
'How are we all feelin' folks? Good? Great? PERFECT! Let's start this next match with... Brutus Hammar! And his opponent- Emiko Chekoi!'
The gates opened, and the fighters were allowed to start of their own will.

Brutus Hammar blinked as the light shined through the gates that started opening. Carefully, he put his helmet on. He kept his visor up, so he could get a good look at his opponent before he fought him.
He hefted his shield up and held it in front of him as he walked forward into the arena. Brutus made the armor seem like it was as easy to walk in as everyday clothes.
The crowd roared as they saw him enter. A big man who used only a shield? They just had to see this.
He made no sign of having even heard the crowd. Hammar was focused on only one thing, his opponent.
ooc: what happened in those battles?

OOC: No...the FS character BOOM was the shortest ever. OOC: Didn't the BOOM happen to my character...?
As the gates opened, Emiko fixed her dress and put on her cloak, and walked towards the arena. She smiled to the crowd and waved to them, before then turning her attention to her opponent, standing at the other side of the arena. Any other person would have been intimidated by a fully-armored knight, but it didn't seem to bother Emiko so much; the only thing she was focused on was his weapon... more like the lack of one. "Have you forgotten to bring your weapon or something?" Emiko inquired, tilting her head to the side, her expression that of confusion.

Brutus's eyes widened. He had expected something else. Not to fight... a girl... a mere child. He couldn't harm women, and he couldn't harm a child either. It was against the vow he took as a knight. This was going to be tricky.
"My weapon is my shield," Hammar said, "it represents how I will defend my Lord until I die."
There just had to be some way to fight without harming her.

OOC: I'm pretty sure you meant mine. None of FS' characters went boom.
"Wow! Now that should be interesting to see!" Emiko said, speaking with so much enthusiasm, as if a battle wasn't going to follow. Of course, Emiko hadn't forgotten about it; and the match had to begin.
An orb of fire formed in her right hand as she held it up, holding the fireball like a cup.
"Mr. Hammar, wasn't it? You know..." the young girl began, smiling, "just because I'm a girl doesn't mean you should hold back. I've been in battles before."
And with that, she sent the fireball flying towards Brutus.

When Brutus saw the fire orb in Emiko's hand, his grip on his shield tightened. He always learned to be prepared, and expect the unexpected. It had saved his life countless times.
"Mr. Hammar, wasn't it? You know..." the young girl began, smiling, "just because I'm a girl doesn't mean you should hold back. I've been in battles before."
Brutus did not have anytime to respond as the next instant a fireball was being thrown at him. He snapped the visor down and side stepped quickly. The fireball went right past his head. Even in his helmet he could feel the heat of the fireball as it passed by.
"I'm not allowed to fight you. It's against my honor," the knight spoke loudly, so she could hear even behind his helmet.

OOC: Alex wants to beat the record of the shortest battle ever.
As noble as he sounded, it still made Emiko frown.
"Look, I get your honor keeps you from battling women... but you should have expected that when you signed up to the tournament. This isn't reserved for men only, you know, and you've got to fight whoever you're going to face, be it a man or a woman", Emiko told him firmly.
"And I'm not planning on backing down and turning away without a fight."

"I didn't realize that there would be women who enjoyed fighting," he paused, "However if you do attack me... I do have the right to defend myself."
Brutus shifted to a more defensive stance, his shield out ready to block anything attack. He now knew his opponent used magic. This was going to be tricky because he was meant to defend more against physical contact.

OOC: ... Right. So what did you find in my account?
Emiko grinned. "Us ladies have to learn to protect ourselves! Besides, I came from far away. It's why I don't want to go back without having my battle first."
Her expression became serious. "It looks like you still insist on not fighting." She smiled. "That's okay. If defending yourself gets you to fight, then that's fine by me."
And with that, Emiko produced two fireballs, which she threw consecutively at Brutus.

OOC: Pr0n.
Brutus held out that giant shield in front of him. "Rebound." The first fireball hit the shield, and bounced towards the second fireball.

OOC: Yeah right.
The fireball bounced off the shield, and hit the other fireball, halting the attack. The fireball, which grew bigger, fell to the ground, doomed to be extinct without being of any usefulness.
From the looks of it, this is going to be a tough fight, Emiko thought, he's not willing to attack first, and he seems to have some defense moves. Maybe I should use different spells and see how he can counter them... or try to throw him off guard.
The young mage silently muttered under her breath. Suddenly water began appearing on the floor, and pretty soon a strong wave was forming, about to turn into a tsunami and crash into Brutus.

Brutus observed the mage, and saw her moving her lips. This was probably how she casted spells. He mentally put that away in his mind.
He then noticed that water was appearing. And that it was steadily building up, forming a large wave. The wave came towards him.
"What in the name of..." Quickly the knight couched down and placed the shield in front of him. It was better than nothing. The wave crashed into him and Brutus was knocked backward.
Brutus slowly got up, dazed. This was going to be one tough opponent. Not only could she use fire, but she could use water. And possible even other spells. He had to get close range, or else Emiko would constantly just use her long range magic against him.

This might be my chance!
Emiko noticed that Brutus got dazed after this attack. She smiled. For the moment, it seemed she was winning, but she shouldn't drop her guards; if he got closer to her, it might mean her loss.
I must keep the distance as much as possible...
But before she felt the need to move away, she still had the chance to use a spell. Emiko tapped with a foot on the arena's floor, hard; suddenly the earth began to rumble, and a fissure began opening, with spikes about to come out.
That was a rather slow spell, but maybe she would be a little lucky.

OOC: Just checking.
Brutus felt the ground opening under him, slowly. His opponent had underestimated him, thinking that in his heavy armor he would be slow.
He held out his shield in front of him, and rushed forward towards Emiko before the rest of the ground broke out under him. Brutus made sure most of his body was behind the shield, in case Emiko tried to use one of those fireballs again. His objective was to get close to Emiko, secondary objective was to hit her.

Emiko didn't expect Brutus to be this fast; his armor tricked her. It seemed that she had underestimated him. But it also seemed that Brutus underestimated her; he didn't know all of her spells, anyway.
She still had two spells up her sleeves, and one of them was perfect for this situation. Emiko had to make sure Brutus didn't get too close to her (as it would mean a most likely assured defeat), and she just might have the spell that would make him back off, while doing a bit of damage. It was a risk using it, but she had nothing to lose.
Bringing her hands together, Emiko placed all of her concentration on this; soon, her body began getting envelopped in small jolts of lightning. It intensified, until Emiko was inside a small bubble of electricity, that lasted for a few seconds.
