Welcome back everyone! As the stunning tie in the 2019 "____ of the year!" nominations went unresolved for almost three years, it's been a while - but the conclusion of the 7th ToM Writing Competition, while sullied by poor administration (so say some), did have a silver lining: The penalty incurred for ignoring the mandatory participation rule settled all ties, and the 2019 "____ of the year!" nominations finally came to an end.
As such: Welcome to the several-hours-early 2022 "____ of the year!" nominations!
Compared to previous years, things have changed a bit, for a variety of reasons. In particular, the rules are:
* Any member can make up a "____ of the year!" category and nominate something for it. A nomination counts as one vote for that something in that category. At least one vote is required to win.
* Members are capped at 10 nominations each.
* Nominations will end, at the earliest, after the conclusion of seven full days with no new nominations.
* Ties, where multiple things receive the same number of votes in the same category, will be settled by gently requesting all members vote in that category. If a tie remains after that then, due to the following rule, it's unlikely to ever be broken - so neither one will win or be displayed, as a disincentive for forcing ties.
* Per the penalties incurred during the conclusion of the 7th ToM Writing Competition: Cetasaurus, Daryl, KillerInstinct, and Wulfi will not have their votes count. As such, any nominations by anyone any of them will count for 0 votes, rendering them essentially worthless unless seconded by a qualifying member. Categories with a tie at 0 votes will not be considered for the tie breaking process.
* As always, winning nominations will be displayed in the ToM news ticker for the remainder of the year. All submissions must adhere to Proboards terms of service.
* Messages that have been edited before the tallying process will not have their nominations counted. If you make a mistake delete and repost.
Good luck!
