I'm delighted to announce that ToM will officially be playing host to the 7th* ever ToM Writing Competition!
To enter, simply create a thread in this board, and post in it something you authored. There are no limits on length, number of entries, or content, so long as the Proboards Terms of Service are not violated.
Entries will close after January 2020 ends, so long as at least three works have been entered, by any number of people. If three works have not been entered by then, entries will be prolonged until the end of 2020, after which point entries will end regardless of the number of entries. Following that a poll will be held, open to all forum members, to decide the winner.
The winner will have complete control of the forum News Feed for at least one year. I am open to custom prize requests, but will deny them if I want to.

You're right, we need more drama.
Toward that end, I'm implementing some mid-tournament rule changes:
1. Participation in the writing competition is now mandatory for all active forum members.
2. Voting will now be split into no fewer than 3 rounds of a tournament-style bracket. Ties will be decided by me through an opaque process that I super duper promise won't be biased.
3. Cetasaurus now has exclusive power to enforce a theme on the mandatory required story of any one active forum member of their choice, except Hauskaz, who has already fulfilled their mandatory submission requirement.
4. Due to the new mandatory submission requirement, the entry period has been EXTENDED until after the conclusion of the Tokyo Olympics, whenever they may take place.

So, what happens if someone breaks a rule (particularly the first one)? Are they just disqualified from the writing contest?

Someone who breaks a rule will be banned from having their "____ of the year!" votes count for 5 polls, including 1 poll retroactively, which may potentially finally resolve our deadlock and allow those to continue again.
They will also be ostracized by others here on the forum for their nonconformity, and I may consult with Ceta for ideas on even stricter penalties.
For clarity's sake, the members who are considered active are:
* Hauskaz
* Me
* Bitchy Grammar Queen
* Cetasaurus
* simple tactician
* ᵐᵃᵗᵗ
* killerinstinct
Of course, there won't be any issues with someone breaking the rules. So it won't ever come to that.

killerinstinct is the only forum member to have achieved the rank "ToM member for life", which grants her permanent active member status. Also admin is simple tactician, who was included on the list of active members.
Your suggestion will be taken into extremely strong consideration.
