The castle training grounds were normally a private area, where nobles of the land learned how to fight according to their status, and participated in a variety of tournaments and jousts. However, on the weekends, the beautiful grounds were opened to everyone, so that even commoners could practice their fighting, within reason. Some guards stood watch to make sure things didn't get out of hand, and a healer sat underneath a tree, reading a magazine as they waited for some idiot to cut off a hand or something.
Saturday sessions were busy, but Sunday sessions, especially the one taking place, were normally devoid of activity. There was only one person on the grounds, or, at least there had been. The healer had glanced up and seen someone, but when they had read a passage and looked up again... the person was gone.
Maybe they were hiding in order to surprise someone coming.

"Where is he..."
A young boy stepped through the training grounds, curious as to where the usual crowd was. At the very least, there were knights training. Or footsoldiers. Sometimes, even village girls who wanted to get with some royals. But other than the guards and the lazy healer, nobody.
If Daniel doesn't show, dad is gonna think I ditched training... and he'll definitely kick my ass... C'mon, don't bitch out on me...

Daniel shortly popped out from his hiding spot, which was on a high branch in the tree which the healer sat under. This, of course, scared the healer so badly that he jumped up and ran off, deciding that someone else could deal with bratty kids wanting to have a spar on a lovely Sunday afternoon.
"Hey, Meridan," Daniel chuckled, tapping his fingers against his sword's sheath as he spoke. "I've been waiting long enough for you to get here. What took you so long?"
