Stampede Of Flame
Chapter I
A golden orb above set the sky aflame. A crimson horizon hovered carefully over the plains, threatening to incinerate the world below. The plains rolled with the wind, a flowing landscape carved by time. The clouds burned, engulfed by the fire above.
The dry grass was crunched and pounded into the dirt below their obsidian hooves. The herd trampled forward with a grace and delicacy unseen in any other manner of beast. Their goal shimmered in the distance, Blood Lake Valor.
In the reddened lake, beneath the sediment of creatures long dead, stirred a legendary beast. An incarnation of all that is living and all that has died, the sum of all that is life and all that is beyond. The creature sensed the imminent presence of the herd, and slowly emerged to observe. The creature defied all sense of comprehension and logic, as it broke the water's surface a single jewel of unimaginable colour appeared, faceted into a colourless material somewhere between flesh and stone. The God's head now fully exposed revealed three eyes, each an infinite spiral of black and white. The torso revealed five separate limbs, each indistinguishable from the last, drifting in and out of reality as they gently swayed.
The herd approached without fear, many venturing to the edge of the lake to quench themselves. Three mares entered the shallows, each with a swollen belly, trailed by the clan leader. With every step an eruption of steam arose from their lava-forged hooves.
The mares assembled into a triangle, the clan leader at the core.
He spoke.
'Lord Azelf, master of existence
For many millennia I have known ye
In my heart the desire to burn on lingers
Yet I know our young must roam free
With the death of an ancient flame
Comes the birth of another
And from my fiery mane
I usher forth the creation of Mother
Freeze my mind and soul
Cull my thoughts and memories
Sieze my living influence
Impale me with ice to appease
O Lord Azelf, take my body
And shatter it with the rest
May my powdered bones sustain the weak
May my rotted flesh become one with this living heap'
Without a word, the leader's skin slipped off his carcass in a brilliant display of flame and blood. Each muscle fiber quivered and fell to the water. Our leader's organs instantly putrefied and drained into Lake Valor. The bones exploded into dust to be thrown away into the air current above.
With the death of the elder leader, three new mares were birthed. The women parts of the mares spread with glorious flame and liquid, the smell of singed flesh and afterbirth in the air.
From their wombs erupted three new beings. Lord Azelf let forth a cry of delight then returned slowly to its underwater tomb.
And on that day, three new legendary Ponyta were born.
