Even though within the last few months I haven't been able to frequent ToM as much as I've liked to, coming back here just brings back so many memories...
I literally grew up on this site. I must have been in sixth grade when I came across this humble little forum, and now here I am, graduating high school next month.
Can you guys believe it...? Can you? It's so... It's so surreal.
I'm like, about to cry... ToM means so much to me, despite how much everything has changed since the beginning. But I have faith in this new, revived ToM. I do. I really do.
I remember all that we've been through, the laughs, the tournaments, the RPs, the game discussions, the writing contests... I remember the hurricanes and the reconstructions... We've been through so much, so, so much. And even though we've lost some along the way, they are still here in spirit, and forever remembered, held safe in our hearts.
Tales of Mystery helped me mature, it really did. I live in a small town full of bigots, honestly, and ToM helped to expand my mind and set my sights beyond the monotony and closed-mindedness that is Martinsville. Without you guys, I wouldn't be the learned individual I am today... I truly wouldn't. Thank you. Thank you, all of you. Even if we've only spoken once, in some way, you've bettered me. And I am so grateful... Exponentially grateful.
I was just a little girl, dumb and unaware of all the Internet had to offer. I must have been eleven or twelve when I started posting, and I thank you guys for putting up with my silliness and my errors, my faults and my failures. Your support and kindness helped me through the most awkward years of my life.
Before ToM, I was a shy, withdrawn, self-conscious girl who lacked the confidence to make herself known. Now I am a proactive member of my school community, involved heavily in charity work, known well among my senior class (and even a good deal of the juniors, surprisingly), and I'm one of the most confident, optimistic, and outgoing people you could ever meet. If I see anyone in need, I'm always the first to help. People love me for who I am and what all I do to aid others, and I would have never had the initiative to do any of this or to show my true self to the world if it wasn't for ToM to build my intellect and broaden my horizons.
Now here I sit with my laptop on my knees and a purring kitty in my lap, more content than ever, because being here makes me feel home. Being back on ToM... I am home.
Journey is getting jealous because I'm paying more attention to this than him, so I'll end it here, haha.
I could go on and on, but I digress...
Thank you.
So much...
Thank you.
Sincerely, from the bottom of my heart,
Lisa
