The tournament floor was empty, but the crowd was filled with excited patrons hoping to see a bloody battle between two great fighters. There were two doors on opposite sides of the arena. One for each fighter to step though. The announcer wasted no time in yelling from the side lines, "Without further delay, let's begin this fight!"
All that there was to wait on was the entrances of the two opponents from opposite sides.

Davian was stretching behind the wooden doors, preparing his muscles for combat. He was facing someone similar to himself, well versed in swordplay and magic. He was unaware of the type of magic Adnik used, but he was confident he could adapt to it, as well as the more nimble style of swordplay she used.
The doors swung open and strode into the arena with his natural confidence exuding from his being. He smiled broadly and raised his hand to the audience in acknowledgment and thanks for their cheers. He was happy to be fighting. But underneath his casual face and stance, he was serious. He did not care for taking Mills's life last round. Davian resolved not to take another this round.

Aaaaaah, it feels so good to be liberated!
Indeed, after her first (somewhat embarrassing) battle, Adnik was able to lift the curse, and thus get back her magic abilities. She considered this to be the first real battle; after all, she had her weapon back, too. She polished her cheriched guan dao, and immediately rushed into the arena. As she stepped forward, she wondered what kind of fighter her opponent was. She was going to find that out very soon.
"Hey", Adnik said in a sweet voice, smiling at Davian, standing a few feet away from him, "My name is Adnik, and it's nice to meet you. I hope you won't be disappointed of this fight!"
He seemed kind, and she liked that. She was a bit worried to be facing off a heartless monster.

Davian bowed deeply to his opponent with a smile. "Greetings, Adnik! My name is Davian. I look forward to this battle!"
The warrior drew his sword, brandishing it in a circle above his head. The blade cackled with static and his brought it back down and held it out in front of him. "The first move is yours, should you want it."

Adnik was surprised to see Davian's sword cackle with static. He wasn't just a warrior; he was also a magic user. Sort of like she was. She had to be careful, especially since she didn't like electricity.
"A Master of lightning, I see", she commented, "this should be an interesting battle..."
Weapon in hand, Adnik broke into a run in Davian's direction, and delivered a horizontal slash aimed at his torso. She wasn't expecting this attack to hit; it was only a way for her to see how he would move. A way to study his fighting style.

Davian gave the hint of a smile, admiring Adnik's spirit.
His feet locked to the ground practically as he held his sword out, point facing down, to intercept the slash. The two swords clashed together and Davian was unmoved. From this grip, Davian flipped his sword upright, deflecting the guan dao away from him as he retaliated with a similar movement-testing strike, this time in a vertical up-down slash.

As the weapons clashed together, Adnik tightened her grip on hers as it got pushed away by Davian's sword. She took a step back, so as to not fall. She then held her guan dao with both hands and held it horizontally above her head, ready to parry her opponent's vertical slash. Though she was smaller in height and certainly in weight, Adnik was confident she would be able to parry his attack.

Davian grunted a bit against the jarring blow of sword on sword. She was strong and quick, he thought. He still felt confident in his strength over hers, but her speed clearly surpassed his. But it wasn't in him right now to play defensively. His right foot was forward with his previous strike. He crossed left on his right foot, followed by his left, then aimed a righthand cut to Adnik's torso.

Adnik remained on the defensive, and immediately brought her weapon to the side to parry Davian's attack. He was strong, definitely much stronger than she was. It didn't worry her, though; strength alone didn't do much. What did worry her, however, was his magical ability. For a split second, she wondered how he used his magic...
With the attack blocked and her side safe, Adnik decided to attack, and immediately slashed horizontally as a counter-attack.

With a twist of the wrist, Davian pointed his sword downward and pushed his arm forward, sending his blade forward with force to collide with Adnik's strike. He then recoiled backward with a small hop and started to form a lightning attack in his left hand as inconspicuously as possible.

Davian's counter pushed Adnik back, but she managed to keep herself from falling back. Without further delay, she charged at him and slashed, unaware that he was preparing a spell.

Tracing her movements, Davian had his lightning spell nearly ready. When Adnik struck, Davian stepped forward powerfully on his right foot, letting the blade hammer on the armor on his shoulder. It hurt and would surely bruise, but no blood was shed. From this close quarters position, Davian brought his open left hand forward to strike Adnik with the spell in her stomach.
