The tournament floor was empty, but the crowd was filled with excited patrons hoping to see a bloody battle between two great fighters. There were two doors on opposite sides of the arena. One for each fighter to step though. The announcer wasted no time in yelling from the side lines, "Without further delay, let's begin this fight!"
All that there was to wait on was the entrances of the two opponents from opposite sides.

With the unexpected end of his last battle, Elric felt good. He didn't expend nearly as much energy as he had originally planned on. The faintest hint of a smile touched his sullen, scarred face. He stood ready as he did before, arms at his sides, staff tucked under his left, covered by his hood and cloak. He raised his head and cast his gaze at the gate opposite of him...waiting.

Although she had gone to see the medics, Papillon still felt a bit weakened, and had bandages in several areas, hidden by her clothes. Nevertheless, she confidently walked into the arena; she wouldn't want her opponent to see her weak.
But as she got closer, her confidence weakened, and the grip she had on her rapier tightened. Her expression, however, remained neutral, not wanting to show what she felt. The robe her opponent wore indicated that he was a magic user, she was very sure of that. And, well... Papillon didn't do well against magic users. She was pretty lucky the first round. She wondered how lucky she would be this time...
She took on a fighting stance, waiting to see what Elric's first move would be.

A rapier...again.
Elric fumed internally. Rapiers were one of his least favorite weapons. Stabbing weapons, very precise, very difficult to block OR evade. One shot to the right place would end him...as opposed to the simple wounds he would receive from a longsword.
As such, Elric felt more comfortable actually letting his opponent clear the distance between them so he could more easily respond. So, he remained stationary.

So cold...
Papillon felt very tense around Elric. He hadn't moved since her entrance, nor did he speak, and she didn't like that. But, perhaps she could take advantage of the situation as she had in the first battle...
Remaining in the same position, Papillon's eyes seemed to have changed; her stare was more intense, but at the same time, she seemed to be in a sort of trance.
[Perceive: Since she's a treasure huntress, Papillon can increase her sense of perception when she concentrates on it. This helps determine an opponent's weakpoint.]
Worst-case scenario, she would just have to interrupt herself. It would take a bit for her vision to readapt, but she could manage. It wouldn't be the first time she had to cut her "spell" short.

This lack of movement on either side raised Elric's suspicions. Papillon was gazing intently at him. He felt himself being read, practically. Not wanting to diverge any potential advantage to Papillon, Elric swung his right hand out from under his cloak, summoned an Orb, and threw it overhand at his opponent.
[Orb: A basic, versatile dark magic spell Elric simply calls Orb. Orb can attack, be shaped into different shapes to attack with, absorb simple spells, knock people and projectiles away, act as an eye in the sky, and other simple tasks.]

Papillon had just enough time to perceive Elric's weakness. Just as her vision returned to normal, the orb was thrown her way, and she didn't have time to dodge it, despite her speed. The orb hit her at the chest and knocked her back.
"Ugh!", she let out as she fell back, feeling a painful burning sensation in the area the orb hit her. This wasn't good; magic was her biggest weakness. But she couldn't give up now. Especially not since she perceived his weakness...
The heart...
Indeed, in her vision, the weakpoint that showed up was his heart. While it was a weakpoint to every living being, Elric seemed to be more susceptible than others. Perhaps he had heart problems. Or... perhaps the cold appearance was nothing but a façade, his emotions being blocked inside.
Whatever the reason was, it didn't change anything about the fact, being that his heart was his weakpoint.
The pain having subdued by now, Papillon quickly got up, and, without waste, charged at Elric. When she would be close enough, she would thrust her rapier at him.

Quick recovery, but she seemed to feel the injury moreso than others...even if by a little.
While he did not show it, Elric was nervous as Papillon charged him. As magic was her weakness, steel was Elric's. Magic and steel do not counter each other well. Unless Elric formed an extremely dense Orb, Papillon's thrusts would easily pierce any magical defense he conjured. Her agility was clearly superior to Elric's (rapier users emphasize speed over strength), so outrunning her was not an option. And she was too close for Elric to try and counterattack without serious injury. So, Elric was forced to use his staff, which wasn't much of an option. He held his staff vertically and when the thrust came, he tried to deflect it. While the blade didn't strike his chest, which he was thankful for, it did land painfully in the flesh of his right arm, just above the elbow.
Blood seeped gently from the small, but deep wound. From the awkward position of his deflect, his staff was in place for a counterattack to get some distance. Elric tucked his right shoulder and hip back, painfully drawing the blade from his flesh, while pivoting on his left foot, adding momentum to the left handed swing of his staff aimed for Papillon's head.

Papillon felt as her rapier cut through Elric's flesh, and as it came out. The wound had quickly started bleeding, even though it was very small. Rapiers were dangerous like that; the damage they cause look unimportant, but would be a lot graver than one would think. As soon as the rapier left Elric's arm, Papillon saw that he was trying to hit her head with the staff. Unable to move out to safety (as she was too close), she brought her arm up to counter the attack. The staff hit hard against her forearm, and she stumbled to the side, almost falling. A surge of pain went through her arm, and she was probably going to get a pretty bad bruise, but it didn't matter much. It wasn't the arm she used the rapier with, after all.
There was one thing Papillon was aware of now, and that was she needed to cut the distance. It was to her advantage, as she could act fast, and would probably keep him from being able to cast magic. With this in mind, she took a step towards Elric and thrust her rapier at him again, aiming for his chest.

The flood of endorphins and adrenaline rushed through Elric's bloodstream as a result of his wound. He set himself ready again right after his staff made contact. As soon as his attack had hit, he recoiled back a few steps whilst preparing an Orb in his open hand. As Papillon stepped, Elric was just about to attack. He hopped backwards to protect himself and launched the Orb, but his aim was off slightly to the left.

OOC: you made a mistake. It's Papillon, not Adnik Her thrust had barely missed, and Papillon saw, as she had charged, the orb forming in Elric's left hand. As soon as her attack launched, Papillon immediately ducked, barely avoiding the orb, which nearly hit her in the shoulder. She had to attack again, before he did formed another orb. This time, she resigned from attempting to hit his weakpoint, and simply decided to weaken him first. From her crouched position, Papillon took a small step forward and thrust her rapier, aiming for Elric's right leg.

OOC: Uhh...brain dead. Completely.
Elric stumbled sideways to avoid the attack, but the blade managed to nick the side of his right calf. Noticing her off-balanced position, Elric aimed a vicious staff strike at her left shoulder.
