The tournament floor was empty, but the crowd was filled with excited patrons hoping to see a bloody battle between two great fighters. There were two doors on opposite sides of the arena. One for each fighter to step though. The announcer wasted no time in yelling from the side lines, "Without further delay, let's begin this fight!"
All that there was to wait on was the entrances of the two opponents from opposite sides.

Cassandra gulped as the doors opened before her, deciding that she couldn't show her nerves to her opponent. That was the way her mom had always taught her to fight: never show your fear, and fight until you couldn't stand anymore. But she was nervous right now, to say the least. She was fighting in front of a lot of people, and it wasn't just a simple sparring tournament. These people were experienced, and probably deadly at fighting.
"I'll just have to be deadlier, then."
Cassie stepped out into the arena after she spoke that sentence of encouragement to herself, not waving or even glancing to the audience. She was dressed casually, but on her belt were two balisong, currently in a form which did not show off their deadly blades. She tried not to use them often, going to submit the opponent through physical force first.
Now all she had to do was wait for her opponent, and hope they weren't an old man or something. God, that would be a creepy battle.

Fale's door opened with a loud creak, and as she stepped forward into the arena, she felt a roar of people, animalistic in their nature, but still human. Their intentions were different from her own, and they wanted to see blood. Anyone's blood. It didn't matter who. Fale walked towards her opponent, who she noticed was also a female. Huh. I hope she doesn't make my gender look bad. Fale nodded towards Cassandra with a smile, bearing no ill will towards her. It was a fight. Neither of them chose the other, it was just a fight.
Drawing her sword, Fale stepped back, preparing for the fight to come.

Cassie was also surprised at the fact that another female was facing her in the tournament, not to mention a girl who was wielding a sword. As the crowd began to roar louder and louder in anticipation for the fight and injuries that would most likely result, as if they were more beastly than human. Cassie was starting to get rather annoyed by it, and after a moment of this, she actually turned to the audience and snapped.
"Guys, shut the fuck up already, honestly!"
Even though it was doubtful to do much, Cassie felt better for it, and pulled out one butterfly knife, flipping it open as she stepped towards Fale, a smile on her face. "Hey, I guess we'll be fighting now, huh? Well, we might as well go for it, then!"
With that, she charged, running from side to side as she got closer and closer to the sword-wielding girl.

Fale knocked her head to the side slightly at the sudden outburst from her opponent. It was unexpected, to say the least. Before Fale completely got her focus back into the fight, she was already being charged at.
She's quick...
Fale held her black sword forward in front of her. With a quick exhale from her nose, Fale activated the Shadow Release in her blade. Like water from a fountain, the black tint in the sword spilt onto the floor like water, pooling at her feet. Fale's sword was now and empty white color, and was much easier to handle. Still having an opponent charge her, Fale leapt backwards, trying to avoid any close range damage at the very beginning of the fight. Wouldn't want an early disadvantage. Fale continued her dodging, waiting until her opponent crept close enough for her to make a quick counter attack.

Cassandra would have been surprised at the colour of Fale's sword disappearing and pooling at her feet, but honestly, she was used to all sorts of freaky shit going on around her. She made sure to leap over the pool of sword material, thinking that it might jump up and latch onto her, before continuing to run. As she ran, she activated a spell of her own, Mortal Blade.
She began to flip the balisong in her hand as she rushed forward, hoping to confuse Fale as the blade began to glow a dark silver. When she was close enough, Cassie did something strange. She did a roll to the side, and once the roll was finished and she was crouched down, a hand supporting her, she aimed a low slash at Fale.

Following the girl with her eyes, Fale was throw off by the sudden roll. That would've been a good opportunity to strike. Still following her movements, she saw her swing a slash towards her lower body.
"Fuck!" Fale exclaimed, throwing her legs backwards. The blade managed to catch the flesh on her right leg. It hurt more than most wounds she had taken in that spot. Taking another big step back, Fale got barely enough distance to attempt her first attack. Raising her pure white sword above her, she imbued it with some of her natural magic, and swinging it out towards Cassandra, released the Eagle Talon.
[Eagle Talon: Channeled from her sword, if Fale slashes through air, it sends a sharp current of air to long distance opponents.]

Cassie wasn't expecting the sudden spell, so just as she was getting to her feet to attack again, she saw the current of air heading towards her, and all she could do was put her arms in front of her to cover her face. She flew several feet, the wind cutting her arms with shallow cuts, along with a few more on her side. Thankfully, she managed to land on her feet, and glanced at her injuries. They weren't bad, her mother had given her worse in training.
"Nice shot!" Cassie called to her foe, actually giving her a thumbs up. She wasn't going to be rude to her enemy unless they started something. This felt more like sparring, and Cassie was getting comfortable in this environment. Instead of charging, she wiped blood off her arms with her shirt, and waited for another attack.

...I'm gonna end up making a friend here... Who the hell saw that coming?
"Uh, thanks. You're really good too. (Which is a bad thing for me right now...)"
...OOH! IDEA!
"You're not too bad of a person! Heck, we could probably be great friends someday, so that's why I don't want to kill you. If I wanted to, I could suffocate you to death, and you'd have little way to escape."
Fale raised her hands, staring sympathetically at Cassandra. She focused deeply, clenched her fists, and performed an Air Gag, pulling all the air from her target's lungs quickly out. She held her concentration for a second or two and released the spell, smiling awkwardly.
"Yeah, I wouldn't want to have to completely end you..."
As if I could...

Cassandra attempted to breathe for the few seconds that the Air Gag was in use, but it was a futile attempt. However, soon enough she could breathe again, and she took in a few deep gasps in order to fill her lungs again. She really didn't appreciate the threatening, or the fact that she had been choked for a few seconds.
"Yeah, you're going to suffocate me for a few seconds, I totally want to be your best friend," Cassie replied sarcastically, looking to the sky for some sort of assistance. "Listen, the way you talk sounds as if you really don't want to fight, and you're just trying to get out of it. If anything, that pisses me off more, so come on and fight like you mean it!"
As she spoke, Cassie pulled out a second balisong and began to spin them both quickly, the sound of them clicking against each other very soft as compared to normal blades, yet loud enough to be noticed. She wasn't doing anything... just spinning them around.

"Hey, it's a fight. If you don't want to be friends over one little choking, then fine. But don't pretend that we're not fighting and that I'm not serious."
Fale raised her sword again, channeling her magic, and lashing out another Eagle Talon.

Cassie managed to avoid this Eagle Talon, mainly because she knew what was coming, and didn't exactly want to get smacked with the current of wind again. She even managed to keep spinning her blades, and soon the faint image of two large butterflies appeared on them, as if they were just resting on her blades. She stopped spinning the balisong now, as they would stay there until she used them.
She just had to get really close.
"Okay okay, fine," Cassie chuckled, not minding getting told off. "Besides, if I got angry at people for each little injury, I'd hate my mom to death, but I don't, so yeah. Maybe we'll have to talk again after this. I really want to know how you choked me, because if it's some sort of Jedi thing, I am going to be really impressed."
Cassie was slowly inching forward, but she hoped her chatter would distract Fale.

"I use wind spells. There's air in your lungs." she sniped back.
Fale took note of the butterflies resting on the blades. They were obviously prepared for an attack. A total opposite of Fale, Cassandra was sneaky, and she was subtle.
Not wanting to wait for what was to come, Fale dashed forward, and hurled herself into the air, getting a feeling for all the air below her. As gravity started to pull her, she started to push her magic. The pressure continued to build as she got closer to the ground. Landing a few feet away from Cassandra, the air built up from the jump exploded in all directions away from Fale in an angry roar.
[Wind's Revenge: Initiated by a short jump, as Fale's body starts coming down, she builds the pressure of the wind beneath her much higher. When she lands, the air explodes away from her in all directions. It's very damaging when close, but is less threatening from afar.]

Cassie was not ready for this spell, either, and ended up on her back for it, the longer of her two balisong getting away from her and landing a short distance behind her. The butterfly remained on the blade, but it would disappear soon if she did not focus more energy onto it.
Wait..
With a quick flick of her wrist, Cassie threw her shorter balisong at the just recently fallen Fale, hoping that, even though it would be slightly weaker than if she were to hit her up close, that it would stun her foe using the spell Spirit Shock. She aimed for the chest, knowing that battles like this could be decided by aim, and that the spell was most effective when it hit the chest or head.
As her blade flew, she flew towards the longer dagger, gripping it again and jumping back onto her feet. Cassie wasn't about to give up. Not now.
(Spirit Shock: Simply named, but not simply done, Spirit Shock is a spell created when Cassie focuses energy as she spins her blades, forming red and black butterflies from the quick spinning motions. If these apparitions hit her opponent, they jumble the spirit, causing spiritual pain and sometimes end up momentarily stunning an opponent. Bad news? She has to get very close to use them. )

Knowing full well that she'd be open for counterattack, Fale managed to dodge the blunt of the hit, but it still managed to catch her shoulder, and it jostled her to the point where her Shadow Release canceled. Fale shook off the hit, grabbed the knife from her arm, and tucked it her left boot. I hope this thing isn't booby trapped, because I cannot fight someone with a nub leg.
Fale stood up, still enraged, raised her heavy sword in the air and conjured enough of her slightly scrambled energy to lash out another (weaker) Eagle Talon towards Cassandra.

Cassandra was getting angry with the fact that she had to dodge several of these Eagle Talon attacks. Well, maybe not dodge, but get hit by and get cut for it. This one she managed to dodge by jumping to the right, and now she was getting pissed off. She focused more energy into her blade, and the butterfly grew and took a more defined shape as Cassie bolted for her foe.
This was her chance. With Fale shocked, she was going to attempt to use Eviction to kick her spirit out of her body for a few seconds, just barely enough to land in one hit, two if she moved like a champ. Cassie had one goal in mind, which was to get any weapons away from Fale. She moved to strike at Fale with the butterfly, hoping it connected.
I should have trapped my balisong...
(Eviction: Her strongest "spell", she uses a highly-powered version of Spirit Shock to try and forcibly remove her opponent's spirit from their body for a matter of around three seconds per use. It's only enough to maybe get another slash in, and it is very taxing on Cassie.)

The struggle with the minor stun, Fale saw the look in Cassandra's eyes was lethal intent. Not yet regaining the focus to gag her, she raised her still heavy sword above her as quickly as possible, and drew down a mighty gust of air pressure to suppress both of them temporarily.
I need to calm her down somehow, or she'll kill me...
[Air Disruption: Lifting her sword in the air, a strong current of air will come down from directly above and impact both her and her target. It's more or less used for disrupting attacks and stalling. Only damage it deals is if the opponent hits their chin when they fall.]

Cassandra was distracted by the distruption of wind, and sadly, it broke her Eviction spell clean in two, the butterfly fading away in pieces. The only thankful portion of this was, since it wasn't used, she didn't lose the energy of casting the spell. She would just have to try again later, but for now, she needed a new plan of attack, maybe something with a little bit of distance. She continued to jump back, getting distance until she could ready another ability.
Her knife began to glow again, but this time she shot three small orbs of energy at Fale. It wouldn't do too much to hurt her, but it did bruise and distract. If she kept this up, maybe she could win on sheer nerve.
(S.Shot: Another spell related to spiritual energy, Cassie uses her own energy and shoots small orbs from her knives at the opponent. More annoying than dangerous, but can heavily bruise if sent at close-range.)

She's dangerous. I hope we both live and she forgives me for stealing her air.
Fale stood up, only to see orbs being projected at her. With everything is this bitch's arsenal being dangerous thus far, Fale knew this is probably dangerous too. She took a breath and decided it was time to take the risk. She had no other moves to surprise her with other than this.
Fale stood centered, and cartwheeled in opposite directions, seeming to split apart like mitosis. One of the two was Fale, and the other was a dangerous wind illusion.
The illusion and Fale dodged out of the way and charged forward towards Cassandra. The real Fale on one side, and the illusion on the other. If Cassandra hit the illusion, Fale planned to hit Cassandra with her sword. If Cassandra hit Fale, the illusion would still hit Cassandra. But by the end of this attack, there wouldn't be much left of Fale's magical stamina, and her physical stamina wouldn't be in great shape either.
But which of the two will Cassandra try to hit?
[Mirror Cartwheel: When Fale is being attacked by a projectile, she can cartwheel out of the way in both directions, creating her actual form, and a wind-illusion. Both her and the illusion then charge her target, and if the wind illusion hits, then the target will suffer a fierce impact, sending them in the other direction. This is a powerful, but draining skill, and can't be used much.]

Cassandra thought for a second, realizing that she would be unable to do anything intelligent towards the mirror image of Fale or the real one, whichever one was which. If she did attack, she would probably get attacked, and she didn't want to take that risk at the moment. So, she ran for her life, thinking up an idea as she ran along. She wouldn't be as fast as Fale, but she had a bit of distance, so she could hope for a miracle between now and then. If she didn't, she'd be facing two evil ladies at the same time, which was bad.
So, she decided to continue using S. Shot, aiming behind her as she ran for her life. She glanced over her shoulder to aim every so often, hoping she would maybe hit the fake one, leaving only one to worry about.

Fale, carefully dodging as many attacks as possible, trusted her illusion to do the same. As she charged forward more, she suddenly felt the impact of all her magic being dissolved. One of Cassandra's attacks grazed the illusion. It shattered the attack, leaving Fale completely empty of any energy at all. Mid charge, she seemed to blackout momentarily, faceplanting to the ground from sheer shock of being completely drained. As she lay there motionless, she couldn't think. Her thoughts would not, and could not form. She was a dry husk, and she had lost the battle.
Her body still having some physical stamina (though not much, because of all the running from before) Fale stood up - blank-faced, pale, in a painful daze. She leaned on her sword for support, and slumped over onto it, sweating. She would have to win this fight on nothing but her hands.

Cassie, seeing that Fale had tripped for a moment, took a pause and rested her hands on her knees to breathe deeply, allowing her heart to slow down in its wild beats. Running like that from an illusion and its master had startled her, and she just wanted to relax, as she was sure Fale wanted to do. Besides, Cassandra was feeling very good about this battle, even though she was missing a balisong from throwing it at Fale.
Dad's gonna laugh at me... ah well. It was for a good reason.
After getting her proper rest, Cassie stood up and simply waited for Fale to make another move. She didn't want to charge again and get smacked by another Eagle Talon. The wounds from getting hit twice were starting to bleed more than she liked. It would have to wait until the end of the battle to be looked at, though.

...If I can hold on until my magic gets a chance to regenerate... I could use magic within a few minutes from now... Not much magic, but any is better than none at this point...
...!...
Standing, and no longer leaning on her sword, Fale shook off the pure stun of being drained of any and all magic within her. She had remembered a critical advantage she had in this fight. Feeling almost elated at the memory of it, Fale waved to Cassandra, who she didn't see as an enemy any longer. "You know, this is a really good fight! I'm not surprised, though! Are you excited for the rest of the tournament?"

Cassie didn't like the way that Fale was acting. The last time she had been so sickly sweet, she had choked her using one of those wicked wind spells of hers. Cassie began spinning her remaining balisong again, hoping that she wouldn't be choked once more. Deciding not to stand still, she began to circle Fale, maintaining a decent distance. If she needed to, she might get lucky and end the battle with a finishing blow... she still had that sword, though, so she couldn't go in for one of her more imfamous ending moves.
"Yeah, I really want to go on to the next round, but I'll have to beat you first," Cassie replied, ripping the bottom of her shirt with her dagger to wipe some of the blood away. "Mind, you're a really good opponent, I'm not gonna lie. It's been fun."

Fale watched the girl circling her. She couldn't complain, she was defending herself with minimum movement: moving her upper body left and then right, following her with her eyes. Okay, I'm slowly recovering energy, while she's slowly depleting her own. I think I could even cast another Eagle Talon if I needed to... ...But I don't think I should be so impulsive... No. Just wait. Stick to my plan.
Fale watched closely, still cheery. "I want to live to see the next round too! A friend of mine is here" Fale stopped, and blushed a little, "...and I want to thank him for something."
Making sure that her feelings didn't interfere with her performance, she focused more carefully on what Cassandra might do next. She still might have to dodge a big attack.

"I hate to say this, but I have someone here who I need to impress, too," Cassie admitted, slowly beginning to step closer and closer. "My mom. You see, mom taught me everything I know. Mom even adopted me as a baby. And since he's here watching me, I'm not going to lose to you. Sorry."
Cassie knew that she couldn't miss this chance. She bolted towards Fale, spinning her balisong until the larger butterfly, indicative of her Eviction spell, returned in a flash of red light. She didn't care if she got hit for this one, she was going to get Fale back. She went in to connect with the Eviction spell, knowing that if it did, she would have a few seconds to do what she wanted.

Perfect! This is just what I've been waiting for!
Cassandra made her charge, the very charge Fale was both anticipating and hoping for. She observed Cassandra's weapon. It was short. She then took note of her own weapon. It was long. Fale in a defensive position had better range than Cassandra. Since Cassandra was charging Fale, there was about a 2 foot range where Fale could hit Cassandra before Cassandra could hit Fale.
As Cassandra charged closer, appearing to want to finish things quickly, Fale drew the very limit of her magic, and as Cassandra ran closer and closer, Fale channeled all the energy in her body into her sword to hopefully thrust both and Eagle Talon and her sword into and through Cassandra. If she missed, she'd be without any magic, and vulnerable to whatever attack came next.
Final plan of action... Steady my arm, brace for whatever is to come, and react!
In that moment, Fale drew her sword from it's relaxed position on her side to straight in front of her, releasing a weakened Eagle Talon as well.

Cassie was sadly ready for the fact that her opponent would have enough energy left in her to do another attack, but she hadn't counted on her using an Eagle Talon attack while she stabbed her sword right in front of her. However, to win, sometimes a sacrifice would have to be made. She wouldn't be able to slow down quickly enough to dodge the sword completely, but she could make recovery less painful.
Her left side was the sacrifice. Fale's blade stabbed into her side, and the Eagle Talon tore flesh open going down from her face to her leg. The only saving grace here was that Cassie was now right up to Fale. Eviction had not been cancelled yet, and she was now angry. Raising her right arm feebly before casting it down to try and stab Fale and activate Eviction, she had one thing to say.
"Fuck you."
If this didn't work, Cassie was going to hope to hell that Fale wouldn't murder her.
(Eviction: Her strongest "spell", she uses a highly-powered version of Spirit Shock to try and forcibly remove her opponent's spirit from their body for a matter of around three seconds per use. It's only enough to maybe get another slash in, and it is very taxing on Cassie.)

As Eviction landed, the backbone of the attack was mostly pointless, as Fale was completely drained of all magical energy anyway, nonetheless, she was momentarily stunned.
All I can bank on now is the fact that she only has one weapon, and that she's injured... I don't know how much damage that spell does to her, but it's powerful enough to stop me... If she stabs me, maybe the sudden burst of pain will un-stun me, and I can still win this... ...Things aren't looking great for either of us...

Cassie had one chance left, and for one small second, she didn't know what she was going to do with it. She could have, if she wanted to, killed the girl whose sword was stabbed into her side. However, she would not do that. Instead, she did something that even she did not originally plan to do with this chance. She took Fale's sword away from her and pulled it out of her body, blood pouring from the wound.
And, hoping Fale would still be out of it before she had a chance to react, she aimed Fale's own sword at her stomach before going for a stab, and hoped this would end this battle once and for all.
