No other website I've visited had a place to come talk about your day. It helps to get to know people when you read these posts.
I've never posted here about my day before. I'm still deciding if I should...
Um... I woke up and went to school to learn about computer programming. I still don't get it. Plus, we just used an application that doesn't require you to know anything about those computer languages... which, as far as I know, is the very foundation. =/ I don't really know what they're teaching us then.
I just, about 4 seconds ago, had this wonderful idea for this project I have to turn in once school starts. We have to talk about how cultures transcend borders. The project has to be technology based. Like, PowerPoints, documentaries, slideshows, etc. My great idea is to use this "computer programming" application to make something. ~shrug~ I guess I'll find out if this will work.
After the class today, I came home and went on my computer and came here to see if there was an update about Golden Emblem. Then I looked at the donation process on the site The Confused Philosopher showed us and realized it probably wouldn't work seeing as I don't have a bank account.
That's about it. My summer has been pretty good, but I have a friend who I haven't heard from since school got out and I'm kinda worried. I got to go wakeboarding this weekend, which is always great.
And there is a long story about my day. It still seems weird posting this... Here goes...

Glad you started a journal. It's cool, cause you're posting and sticking around, but you're still new and we hardly know anything about you. It'll be cool to learn more.

Everyone here is so close, it seems. Sometimes I feel like an impostor, an intrusion or something. And most everyone here is so nice and kind and polite that I know people will say otherwise... So I don't know if I'm actually just annoying everyone with my presence. It's a little confusing. =/ I don't want to disturb something. I came because Golden Emblem posted a link to try to get more people here and I thought I could help by showing up, but in my opinion, Tales of Mystery doesn't need more people because the people it has already are enough for each other. I don't know... I don't really know what I'm saying. Sunday July 25th Tomorrow my friends leave on a backpacking trip. I was going to go with them, but on Tuesday I hurt my ankle, so I can't. 8( ...except I still haven't heard from that one guy I mentioned last time. Hmm... I couldn't go wakeboarding this weekend either. Blasted ankle. Tomorrow I have to see a doctor about it. That's about it really. Life is going pretty good for me. I'm glad (and thoroughly inspired) with how Golden Emblem seems. Sleep well tonight, killerinstinct.

We always appreciate new people joining up and actually staying. Eventually, you'll take a class on ToM history and start using our actual names. See see, when I started here, I was the classically cheesy name "Druid of Darkness" or "DoD" for short. Now, we're mostly on a first name basis just cause of the long time we've been together. I've been on ToM for...5 years methinks. As long as you abide by the rules (I.E., don't be a douche), do whatever you want. New stuff is always interesting.
And, I hope your ankle heals with the speed of a gazelle skating across the custard colored grasses of the great savanna.

Dude, if you leave because of that, it'd be stupid. We were all newbies once. And yes, we need more people, especially people who aren't stupid and can role-play. So there.

XD I wasn't planning to leave, just voicing some thoughts about the place.... I don't think I could leave if I tried because I would miss everyone. I just... haha, nevermind. Forget I said anything. xP And, I hope your ankle heals with the speed of a gazelle skating across the custard colored grasses of the great savanna. Thanks Griffin. That's... an interesting image... I'm sort of picturing a gazelle with ice skates on...

July 27 Went to the doctor because they were too busy yesterday. I'll have to do physical therapy. And I have to wear this big boot thing for six weeks. So I can't really do anything active for the rest of the summer. Dang. I saw a movie though. (What else should I do if I can hardly walk? Haha ) It was really good. It makes my top three favorite at least. You should all see it. It's called Inception. So cool. xD And I joined a bazillion RPs and started one. Not here though, but I could post it here too if you wanted.

I have one of those big boot things in my basement. Disloacted my ankle sliding down a mountain...which sounds a lot worse than it really was. It was only like...ten feet.

August 2 First physical therapy thingamajiggy today for my ankle. Haha so I walk into the clinic thing and I'm following the signs and all, then I come to this sign it says "physical therapy up stairs" or something and it points to this massive staircase. I must have looked kind of horrified because someone walked by and told me there was an elevator.
But anyways, I found the sign highly comical. xD

Nah, I can walk better now and wanted to use the blasted staircase. But using stairs is the extent of my current walking abilities. Well, and I can walk around, obviously. I'd say that's pretty good. xD Better than before. Hopefully it will recover before school so I can do sports and stuff.

I have a quick question: Is there a place to post character profiles? Like where we post the profile not necessarily to RP but to, maybe, get suggestions for the character or just to see if people are interested in RPing with the character?

I have mine posted under "Writer's Corner" then "Other". Just a list of my guys with a basic profile. Granted, the info can change depending on RPs, but yeah, I like having a formal list of character to refer to.

August 25 Sorry I've been missing for a little over a week. I've been busy and a little stressed. XD Just though I'd let everyone know I'm still around. 'Sup? In other news, I only have one more physical therapy session before I'm free. I can now go up AND down the stairs. The down part was always harder because my weight would go over my foot and drop rather than just go in an up motion, see? I can kinda run on it, but not like a full out sprint or anything. I'm actually amazed at how quickly it got better. Hooray.

Thank you. ^_^ Also, this is mostly why I left for the week, I really needed to finish it. scratch.mit.edu/projects/KM8/1266344I really need some help. I made this from nothing, and if there are glitches or typos or the font can't be read or ANYTHING off about it, it would be a disaster when I turn it in to the teachers. You don't have to read everything, but can I get some people to mess around with it and tell me if something doesn't work? Oh and the reason it says it's based on a project by MadiKB, I was using my sister's account to upload it then she got mad and made me make my own. And it's a really big project with a lot of scripting so it might not load for everyone. x.x

Sometimes the back arrow requires several clicks, and the only place where I see text near a red arrow is for "Emmanuel Bell" at the cathedral. That's all I looked at.

Agree with Daryl on the back arrow. However, I checked the cathedral, and all the arrows give text when clicked on. Sometimes it requires several clicks, though.
Oh, and I noticed a typo. You wrote Armstice instead of Armistice (history of the tomb and the eternal flame, beneath the Arc).

Oh, yeah, I'd not noticed that a screen comes up when you click the arrows. This is what I was referring to though. All my testing is done in the latest version of Chrome on Windows 7 64 bit. I also notice that for the clicking, it helps immensely if you click right on the letter. If I click in the middle of an "O", for instance, I can click all day and it won't do anything. If I click on the border, though, it'll go right to its function.

Post by Cetasaurus on Aug 29, 2010 12:04:28 GMT -5
Oh right. Haha. Thank you for pointing those things out. The clicking thing isn't something I can fix, because like you said Daryl, it just works when you click the letters and not between them. I don't know why... Also I'll fix the typo in the final thing, thank you for telling me about it. And the reason I put labels on some of the arrows is because you can't see what they're pointing to on the picture. Does that make sense or was it a bad idea?

August 29 First, tomorrow I start school which really bites. I want it to be summer.
Now the real thing I wanted to share with everyone is just some thoughts that have been... irritating me. See, I'm a pretty conservative person. Once I went to the Anne Frank Haus (spelling?) in Amsterdam. After you see the house and all (which was both neat and spooky) there's this game thing in the.... lobby/entrance thing. It asks questions concerning human rights and stuff. You stand on a platform with a bunch of people and have the choice of two buttons: "yes" and "no." The game gives information about a subject then asks the main question of controversy and you answer yes or no then it makes a pie graph showing the percentages of people who hit yes or no.
So one of the questions was talking about how there are groups on facebook denying the Holocaust actually happened, and it goes on to describe some reasons how that is disrespectful and harmful and wrong and stuff. Then the question asked if we thought these groups should be disallowed.
So, when you choose an answer, the button you pressed lights up. If you choose "no" it lights up red and if you choose "yes" it lights up green. Most people cover up the light so nobody knows what they chose, but it's easy to forget to do. x.x So anyways, I was the only one who chose "No, the groups shouldn't be taken down." And the results show up on the pie graph and people all turn and stare at me glowing red button and I'm thinking to myself Freedom of speech people! This would be censorship, haven't you read Fahrenheit 451? Do you want the world to come to that? People should be able to say what they want. And then the game moved on to the next topic and the whole thing was probably forgotten.
About a year ago, I became a moderator on an online forum kinda like this. I've noticed that things change depending on the situation - the people, the circumstances, surrounding events, etc. In example, if someone did something that was worthy of an instant ban, my punishment might change depending on what happened. If it was committed by someone who was usually a good contributor to the forum and everything, the punishment would be far less severe than if it had been committed by the forum troll.
So, to relate this to the Holocaust denying thing, I used to believe that censorship was bad, it restricted our unalienable rights, it was the first step to complete government control and citizen brainwashing, etc., etc. (Maybe I blew it a little out of proportion in my head). But now I'm realizing that maybe everything should change based on the circumstances. So my endeavors as a moderator have totally thwarted my world views and I don't know what to think anymore.
That is all. Just felt like sharing that. xD
