Zelda: Twilight Princess and World of Warcraft.
Crossover fanfics generally don't work out, unless there's something akin to both of them, or else events happen below the radar. Most of this takes place in the WoW world, the final confrontation taking place in the undead-ridden Razorfen Downs.
Major lore characters in WoW play minor roles, with the exception of one, who takes a direct involvement on one of the later confrontations.
All characters besides Link, Midna, and the flittering WoW lore character, are original.
List of major characters: WARNING: CONTAINS SPOILERS.
Link - Race: Hylian (Human)
The Hero of Twilight, Link is a youth of few words but many deeds. Since Midna's departure, Link has been searching for a way to link to the Twilight realm again - despite knowing that Midna sealed the Twilight Realm to prevent darkness from again entering - or leaving. Until one attempt goes drastically awry, and while he succeeds in reuniting with Midna, he finds himself on a world tortured by war...
Link's most distinguished feature is his silence. He prefers to act instead of speak, and can come off as a bit brooding. While not completely silent, he is the quietest of the group. Despite his silent demeanor, he is at his core, very kind and altruistic.
Midna - Race: Twili
Strong willed, somewhat cynical, cunning, and even a little vain...These are a few of the adjectives used to describe Midna, the Princess of Twilight. Ever since the conflict with Ganondorf and Zant's mad betrayal, she has tried to reestablish herself as the monarch of the Twilight Realm. She has discovered Link's attempts to connect with the Twilight Realm, but is torn trying to decide whether to help him or stop him. When she finally relents, and attempts to create a connection, she finds herself with Link...but not in either Hyrule or the Twilight Realm...
Midna is strong willed and vocal. Despite her tendencies and standoffishness, she often acts as Link's voice or as a second opinion. However, she harbors a deep respect and admiration of Link, and as a result, tends to share in his altruism, if not his kindness. Her powers are much reduced in this new world, and she finds that many of her abilities, such as her telekinetic ability and energy manipulation, have been reduced to a few simple cantrips. While she loathes the form, she often assumes her imp form for practicality purposes, and her true form when dealing with other people.
Sagetotem - Race: Tauren
Sagetotem is an elderly Tauren druid. Said to be one of, if not the, oldest living Tauren in existence. He belongs to no clan and no order: He is simply Sagetotem. As a hermit, he lived to discover the deep mysteries of nature, and in doing so, discovered the natural power of the druid. While it is true that he is venerable, his connection with nature has left him as hale and active as any young Tauren just starting their own personal Great Hunt.
Sagetotem is old, wise, and kind. He understands well the plight that Link and Midna find themselves in. He is peaceful, but is wise enough to know that that "A chopping block will end up as splinters if the axe is not stopped" and will defend himself, or his allies, from danger.
Dolcane - Race: Human
The scholar Dolcane, a well respected independent mage, is a strong spellcaster. His ability relies on the mystical rather than the physical, and he is quite proficient with his ability. As a scholar, he devotes himself to study. However, he prefers to do fieldwork as opposed to "Sitting around in a magical library arguing over pointless theories". He is highly interested in ages long gone, and studies them fervently, while he tries to, through the tried-but-true trial and error, solve the problem of the Scourge. Despite his scholarly tendencies, he is in very good physical health, which he maintains through traveling on foot.
Dolcane comes off as curious. He enjoys to ask questions about something he does not understand. The entire situation involving Link and Midna's appearance has left him curious as to why, and the Twili powers have left him intrigued. Because of Midna's natural tendency for magic, he has decided to tutor her in discovering another way to use her powers.
Thaedokk - race: Orc
Thaedokk is known throughout the battlefields as a powerful warrior. His strength, fury, and chilling war cry have earned him the official name of Furyhowl, but many, especially among the trolls, call him the Bloodshrieker. He is a weapon master, proficient in all weapons he picks up, although he prefers the weight of an axe in his arms. While he is known for his fury, his weapon training has granted him much in the way of discipline: He chooses when to let his base battle fury run wild. He can play the role of defender, and distract the powerful while his comrades work to take them down. Dressed in plate armor, weapons by his side, Thaedokk is a fierce warrior and a powerful ally.
Thaedokk is loyal and strong. While not as quiet as Link, he also prefers to act rather than speak, but knows the value that planning and diplomacy can have in avoiding conflict. Fiercely loyal, he will follow to the pit of Hell and back.
Naarghul - Race: Undead/Forsaken
Naarghul' powers come from demonic sources. In a bid to defeat enemies of the Forsaken, he delved into the darker magic, with the assumption that, he being already a walking corpse, the warlock magic, which for some requires a price, would not cost him anything to use. Because he lacks any physical sensation, he cannot feel pain, nor does any sort of environment bother him. Amongst the Forsaken, he is well known, having risen through the ranks of authority quickly, and now holds a somewhat influential position in Undercity.
Naarghul is cynical and condescending. He is rude, manipulative, and grim. His personality leads him into direct clashes with Midna, who shares in part of his cynicism, but not his dark attitude. Beyond this, however, he offers a direct view of the consequences of failure, and personally ensures the alternative does not happen.
Amalodel - Race: Night Elf
A priestess to the goddess Elune, Amalodel is a defender of her people and a defender of the great expansive forest in which she and her people reside. Prefering function over formality, she serves the goddess by traveling through the world and aiding to defeat the dark forces that threaten the whole of Azeroth. She can call on many kinds of powers, from spells that launch Holy powers, to shadow words that wrack her foes with pain. She enjoys her work, and enjoys her travels.
Amalodel is very kind, but is posessed of the innate pride that the Night Elves have, and confidence that she can be of use. She is mistrustful of the Horde, but knows that conflict without just reason is meaningless.
These are the main characters of the story so far. I may have one or two more to think up, but there you are.
