I made out with a guy once and made him blow his load. It was very flattering.

What a wonderful speech. Brought a tear to my eye. This is why you deserve to win. 🥲

Well everyone, looks like there are 3 winners. I am so great at this.

You should drop the last place entry and hold another poll.

Do I still get to break the tie?

We should have a poll to determine how the tie is broken.

I concur.

We should have a poll to determine how the tie is broken. What would the voting options be?

I think it's only fair that everyone on the forum contributes one option to the poll.

I think it's only fair that everyone on the forum contributes one option to the poll. Only those users who followed the mandatory entry requirement should be eligible to submit an option.

Cetasaurus, who's in charge of the tournament, already decreed that the only punishment those lowlifes would receive is having their "____ of the year!" votes not counted for 5 polls including 1 poll retroactively, and being ostracized for their nonconformity. Barring them from submitting an option would spit in the face of that frankly admirable and brave decision.

We could have a poll to determine who gets to submit options to the poll.

We could have a poll to determine who gets to submit options to the poll. This is a great idea.

I'll be honest, not one of your best ideas, Cetasaurus. They can't all be winners.

I disagree, I think it is a fantastic idea.

Maybe we should have a poll to decide whether or not it's a good idea.

Okay but in that poll I think only the administrative staff of this forum should get to pick options to appear in the poll.

I disagree.

I think that can only be decided by a poll.

I can save you from the nightmare of endless polls about polls, Cetasaurus. Just declare I'm still the official tiebreaker. You know you want to. I gave you control of the tournament to make decisions, not delegate them.

I think I should declare myself the official tie-breaker and then pick the winner.

I don't know how to feel about this decision.

No matter what decision you make, someone will be mad at you.
Let me take the heat. I got this. You be the hero who was just following the rules and organized the ending of what is still probably the least drama-filled writing tournament in ToM history, with the possible exception of the 6th writing competition.

Daryl, you gave up your chance to have any authority over this contest when you handed over ownership to Cetasaurus.

I was still in the rules as official tiebreaker both before and after the power transfer. All I'm suggesting is that rule be honored.

I was still in the rules as official tiebreaker both before and after the power transfer. All I'm suggesting is that rule be honored. Well, see, you breached your contract as tie-breaker when you selected an entry not recognized in the rules as official. It's a bit contradictory to see an appeal to the rules coming from someone who's demonstrated little regard for their constitution. So I hereby declare myself the tie-breaker, and will be selecting the winner using a process that I super duper promise will not be biased. Regarding simple tactician's invisible story, it's now been admitted amongst the official entries via its recognition in this officially-sanctioned poll. This does not retroactively justify Daryl's rule-breaking.

I would argue that nothing in the rules said ties had to be decided using official entries only (Indeed, the 6th ToM writing competition was won by someone who didn't even enter it). In defiance of your last statement, I also see ST's entry's official recognition as an official entry as official vindication: It should have been an official entry all along, and definitely would have been had we known it didn't exist at the time the tournament closed. I've been assured it already didn't exist before the deadline, so everything was in order. Thus, me having picked it was not improper.
I nonetheless accept your decision to name yourself tie breaker. I hope you'll consider my points and I know you'll come to the right conclusion.
