It's that time of year again! That's right, it's time to nominate things for "____ of the year"!

"____ of the year" is a section of the ToM news ticker, seen at the top of the homepage, where various things are called out for being the best of their kind for the year. As we're now approaching a new year, it's time to once again nominate new things for a new year.

Current categories include "Generic Frozen Pizza Brand of the year" (ShopRite!), "Stealth post of the year" (I am posting in another post!), "Least missed returning member of the year" (batmanuel!), "Admin of the year" (Daryl!), "ToMer of the year" (Bitchy Grammar Queen!), "Thread of the year" (KM8's Journal!), "Daryl of the year" (Daryl Hannah!), "Most missed member of the year" (killerinstinct!), "ToM of the year" (ToM!), "Fact of the year" (Angola is just north of Namibia!), and "Skin of the year" (Pirate!!), but nominations in any category will be considered. Simply make a reply to this thread stating which category you're nominating something for, and the something you're nominating for that category. You can optionally include a justification for each nomination.

When multiple things are nominated for a single category, winners will be decided by a poll. Nominations are subject to ProBoards Terms of Service.

Nominations will close no sooner than after 3 days of no new nominations, or February 1st, 2019. Whichever comes first.

What is the purpose of the "whichever comes first" clause then?

Without the clause it reads ambiguously - one could argue it would mean the nominations could not end before February 1st. February 1st is there because I didn't want to be compelled to keep the nominations open indefinitely if people kept nominating, and the 3 days is there to ensure everyone is given a fair shot to nominate if they want.
