When I tried to view this video, titled "People Punched Just Before Eating", I was stopped with an evil message, by the name of "This video is not available in your country. "
Frankly, I am very appalled at Google's decision to do this for whatever reason. It is not even a very good video, as it consists of a person punching people just before they eat, then dancing. And at the end, he is chased around Paris by zombies, and then dances with zombies.
I sure hope I'm not the only one mad about this!
Worse yet, Google gets your country by cookies, so for a proxy to be affective you must also delete your cookies, which is extremely annoying.
I will be reading Youtube's Terms and Conditions, and looking for why this has happened! And if I don't like the reason (I won't), then I hope you will all join me in aforumNation-wide boycott of Youtube!
Canadian and other non-American users please ignore.
Update:
Found this after searching the site:
"What kinds of usage policies are there?
There are three usage policies -- Block, Track or Monetize. If a rights owner specifies a Block policy, the video will not be viewable on YouTube. If the rights owner specifies a Track policy, the video will continue to be made available on YouTube and the rights owner will receive information about the video, such as how many views it receives. For a Monetize policy, the video will continue to be available on YouTube and ads will appear in conjunction with the video. The policies can be region-specific, so a content owner can allow a particular piece of material in one country and block the material in another."
So, it is being blocked because the uploader of that video most likely specifically chose to have the US excluded >=( I'm still mad, and don't think Youtube should allow its users to take personal biases into account and censor videos from entire populations. I guess I won't start a national movement to boycott Youtube, but I'm still going to write them a stern email....
