That's a little like Arathi Basin in WoW. If one side captures all five resource nodes, your side wins in about 30 seconds. Fivecaps are kinda rare, though. There are plenty of Arathi Basin fights that drag out: One side captures three nodes, the other has two, and one node interchanges every five minutes.
Stalemates in AB are not anywhere near as bad as they can be in Warsong Gulch or Alterac Valley, however.
WSG is capture-the-flag, and as such, when both sides have the other faction's flag, well, it's a stalemate. Stalemates can last for hours.
AV is a straight up, take-no-prisoners war simulation. The goal is to kill the enemy general. Each side has 40 players, and that 40 must slog through the opposing 40, a slew of NPCs, and the general, which is a raid boss in and of itself. Stalemates in this battleground have been known to literally last for days if a team opts for the defensive method instead of an all-out offensive.
I've not been in Eye of the Storm, so I've no idea about it.
